Question for you guys. I'm moving into a new place, and am wondering what I should get for cable or satallite. Right now, I have basic cable from cableone. I have had bad trouble as far as picture goes, but my parents have the digital/cable/internet bundle for $89 and it works awesome. I have been thinking about getting it, but I was wondering if there was a better deal out there, or better service from satallite, etc etc. We have had a good amount of trouble from cableone at our apartment, but my parents have had a lot of good luck at their house.

    Ideas?

if you have a home line through qwest, then their packages would be best with dish or direct, dont remember which company they have. if you only use cell phones, then stick with cable one. you'll get a faster connection for similar price. I just read consumer reports saying that majority of DSL owners arn't completely satisfied with their connections, stating too slow or having troubles. Cable in this area is looking to be the best for awhile until something else comes about. Verizon has fiber optics in play which bring speeds of 50 Mbps. Also talks of broadband tv over optics.

I get hbo, starz, and top 120. I think it is about 80. It is about the same as cable one without movie channels and you get more channels. Plus i get 10 off for the first 10 months and I had hbo free for three months, no activation or equipment fee.

No NFL sunday ticket on Dish Network(or cable for that matter). Directv is the route I just recently went with, the only real downside is that you are pretty much going to have to have 1 receiver per tv (well....at least if you want to watch different channels on each tv you will have to) and you have to pay for each receiver whereas cable allowed you to run a digital box on one tv (for example) and watch basic cable on all the rest.

Have to agree with you on cableone for internet. I'll never go DSL again if I have the choice. Basically I went with Qwest, hooked up the service and had slower than dialup like connection speeds (38k and 46k was about what I got for DL speeds if memory serves), I spent HOURS on hold with customer service people who did not speak english and them telling me "your speed is good" when it was SLOOOOOOOOOOOOW as hell. Add that there are no news groups on Qwest DSL and I cancelled the service that night. BTW, I do have a DSL modem if you are wanting to go that route....used for 6 hours, the only damage is that it was sworn at repeatedly for about 3.5 hours straight.
