Like the title says...car does NOT idle surge when the motor is cold. However, after it warms up to temp it likes it idle surge. Also, the car is getting around 19-20mpg in town...got around 27ish on the highway goin 80ish the whole way bucking a 30ish mph wind...The car should be getting around 30ish in town and 35ish on the highway. Also, there are NO CELs being thrown besides code 21 (V T E C...it isn't wired in right now). Also, even tho it's obviously running rich, the motor seems to be running fine/smooth minus the whole idle surge issue.

I am wondering if the problem can be caused by a bad MAP sensor? so if anybody has a spare they'd like to let me try out/buy...LMK on that too.

thanks...yea i was lookin @ h-t last night and that came up while i was searching. I'll check that in a couple minutes here. However, the fitv wouldn't have an effect on getting good/bad MPG would it?

it has always run nick...i just chose not to drive it because on that really cold day I wasn't getting any heat = coolant system isn't working properly. I'm 90+% sure the problem was an not having enough coolant mixed in with the water. I made the mistake of not changing the coolant when I bought the car...anywho, that problem is fixed and it's running just like it was before...slightly rich and idle surge...that's it...I know it's gata be something stupid...

still messing with that car, so I take it it was nothing major wrong when you had it at my place. I think its one of the sensors, but with that wiring mess you don't know if things are connected right. Hell, just pull the motor and put a sbc in the car. 😄

Well I think I figured it out...I rewired the IAT again (actually using the right set of wires :))...so that's working fine. I think that may have been what's been causing my bad mpg...a obd2 IAT on an OBD1 ECU. The car still idle surges, but I think I figured that out too. The bolt that keeps the the throttle on the TB from going back too far (it rests on this bolt when you are idling) is down too far. It seems as though I can't get a allen wrench in it because it's been puttied for some reason...so, I temporarily just tightened the throttle cable a bit. I have a B16 TB to put on it...just need to buy the gasket and all that good stuff...

Also, another thing I noticed is that I can't find any wiring for the radiator fan...I know this time of year it really doesn't matter too much...but it would still be nice to know that if it's needed, that it's there and functional...so I may just be buying a slim fan here and hardwiring that in...

Also, I did check the FITV and it is working properly.

Just gata fix a couple small things and it'll all be good to go.
