What slowvo didn't mention is that they are going through restructuring as well has having to pay for pensions and other worker buyouts. I can see sales of trucks and SUVs, which have been one of Ford's main items, picking up in the next couple of months if gas and fuel prices stay lower.

Pretty sure it would be the Ford Motor Co., which would include everything. I could be wrong though.

Whether or not you think it's good, it would be VERY BAD for any big auto company to go out of business. GM, Ford, Dodge, Honda, Toyota, Subaru, anything....that would have a very dramatic impact on the world economy.

Yeah the economy would drasticly go up since honda, toyota, etc... would take over there empty plants and produce a better product which would create a higher demand for their superior product. 😛

If it wasnt for the PAG group, ford would be even more in the red.

back to the original subject, i think a parts supplier made a massive batch of bad parts, i know of other company's having massive balljoint/tierod recalls lately also

There is a lot of money involved here and if the replacement parts are cheaper and the customers won't shit bricks at having to foot the bill, like they would if they had to pay for replacement parts for their import. Then why shell out cash you don't have.

I'm not really sure what you just said, but import parts aren't all that more expensive than domestic parts and tend to break less often in MY experience (tjamz=former muscle car fan)

Dont forget that the purpose of cars being made is to for the manufacturer to make money. All the parts are produced/bought/assembled in the most cost effective manner that allows the manufacturer to make the most money possible. There are thousands of deaths each year from vechile malfunctions that automobile producers dont deem it necessary or cost effective to issue a recall for the defective part.

I think Ford might do better now that Bill Ford is out as CEO. He kind of had the Midas touch, except with poo instead of gold.
