No more napa
-
So i quit Napa and the day after i put in my notice they asked me to leave. So monday i have to drive to Jamestown to start training at the nearest O'reillys. They pay for gas and drive time plus i'll stay in field and get my ASE cert in may I hope. I'm not going to be able to give out discounts on a whim anymore but i'll try. Maybe i can set up a fargostreet discount account lol.

He asked me to leave because i'm going to work for a competitor. That and the fact that i told all of the guys i help on a regular basis that i'm leaving and going to Oreillys. He felt I was stealing his customers. He talked about giving me a better job and more money but he never actually made an offer, it was just maybe we could do this and maybe we could do that. Thats all i have heard since i started there two years ago so i left.

In ND, they can fire you on the spot for whatever reason they wish.
I think it's called.. "A right to work" or that's for MN, not sure.
Either way, an employer doesn't really need a reason to fire, or so I heard.
Also it plays a factor into Unemployment from the differences of being "Laid Off" and "Fired" (can't get Unemployment if your "Fired") -

Especially in the auto parts world and if there's a way to get out of any wrong doing, He will most cetainly find a way. I personally have nothing against the man. Hell, I worked for him for many years. I actually get along with him very well. If you took what I said the wrong way then mark my words.... That's not what I meant.

That's not what I meant.I understand the figure of speech and all I was just asking for clarification on what you meant. Any business owner can get away with anything. I have been screwed over by more than one company and its was all some BS reason too. Money does/can buy alot but Mark is one of the more non-arrogant and down-to-earth guys I know. Truthfully it wasn't the smartest move to tell co-workers that you were going to work for O'Reillys, Capitalj.

Hey, now that he fired you, you can collect unemployment off him!!!! He should have let you quit on your own.Not when you put your 2 weeks notice in. Specifically stating your intentions to work for the competition. His termination of employment would be because of insubordination and would qualify as a legitamate reason to fire somebody and would hence be uneligable for unemployment.

If by unemplyment you mean umeployment insurance that would not work. Unemployment insurance only covers when your job position was eliminated. It does not cover for quitting or being fired for cause.Edit:Weshole beat me to it!
