Chris I think your wrong on that part... use of a radar detecting device is a seperate law that often applies to motor vehicles, but the vehicle equipment laws apply to the state your car is registered in

I certainly could be wrong on this one. I just didn't see anything in the statutes that says otherwise

I have a friend whose cousin is a cop in GF and he was doing a ride around with him, and his cousin wanted to pull a suspicious car over but the only thing he could find illegal was black windows all the way around, but the car had alaska plates and since he didn't know alaskas tint laws, he couldn't pull them over for it is what he told my friend.

yes its legal...i have 50% in front and 20% in back....although when they tested in ND one time it turned out to be like 46.7% ...but he still didnt give me a ticket.

you can be legally ticketed in many states for a tint violation even if your not from that state

                  http://home.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/

north dakota is one of them.....

On the tint subject, why dont new cars that come factory with tint ever get tickets? My dads old Sanoma was 17.5%, and his colorado now is 22.5%. Also, how can a car dealership(for example muscatell) sell new cars with aftermarket tint that is beyond state laws.

If your tint is legal in the state the vehicle is registered in, you travel to a state that has that marked as illegal and get a ticket, I'm willing to bet any ticket you received would be thrown out if you brought it to court. Other states have to respect the laws of others and if you are abiding by the laws of your residing state, those laws can't restrict your travel through others. Sure you may still get cited, but it would be thrown out in court.

I just talked to a buddy of mine who did the tint on my 'stang and he said that you are fine if it is legal in your home state. Some states can enforce the laws of other states though...

You do get targeted in the cities if you're younger and asian. I hate dealing with that crap in general, so I don't tint or keep my front plates off. You would be suprised how much that cuts down on random pullovers.
