Professor

I was sitting in my Fraud Examination class a few minutes ago, just sitting in fargostreet trying out some of the arcade and looking at posts. I was in the back corner of the room, and wasnt distracting anybody or anything like that. The prof came up and told me to "turn that shit off right now", and before I could do anything he just slammed shut my laptop. I was bout ready to clock the fucker. I paid almost $10k out of my own pocket this year that i've saved up and worked my ass off for, I should be able to do whatever the hell I want to, I could see if I was being a distraction to other students, but I wasnt.

Back up everything on your hard drive, then punch the laptop from the top til it breaks. Then inform him he will be buying you a new one and that you have plenty of witnesses (every classmate) to bring him to court if he doesn't pay up.

^^ why waste YOUR money then? why not oh...listen in class?i agree....if you are just sittin in class online and not paying attention you can aviod the entire situation by skipping class and coming on fargostreet.....i bet no one will slam your computer shut at home......just my 2 cents....although one must take into consideration the fact that alot of professors are bat shit crazy and have been know to loose it....

The class has attendance points, which means if you do skip your grade drops a couple letters. All of the notes and lectures are on Blackboard, so there's really no point on writing them down when all you have to do is print it off and study it. Also, if you dont go you dont know when homework is due and you cant turn it in if you're not there.

It's really just a respect thing. I did my year of student teaching, and while I'm not the smartest man ever, I expect the people in the class to listen. Wether its import/interesting/remotely useful or not. You have to remember you're paying the school, not the teacher. The fact that your professor even noticed is really a good sign for him as an instructor. I definitely think you prof. should have handled it in a more mature fashion

I still have a B average. Idk, just cant pay attention if I even try, figure it's better than distracting others, it might help if i'd start taking my meds (for ADD) again, but I dont like doing that unless I have to.Why not just take the meds?

Blackboard is an online program NDSU has for teachers and students. Teachers can post whatever they want to on there...whether it be assignments out of class, online exams, or notes...It's all just right there online...I can relate...I think your professor took it too far. He coulda asked you just to turn off your laptop at the least. I, however, think if you want to go online during class you should be able to. I do that in my boring class (HPER 100 lecture...it's the lecture portion of phy ed.). And "bubba"...nice job on even getting your B average...that's above all men's and really isn't that bad at all.

Why not just take the meds?Havent gotten around to getting the prescription filled, last time it was a headache. It's considered a "controlled substance" therefore I have to have my doctor bring a new prescription to the pharmacy everytime for a refill. Up here it takes them forever to get around to it and get it done, it was a lot better back home. Also i'm supposed to take it before I go to school, half the time I barely have enough time to throw some clothes on and run to class, and I forget. They help me focus and pay attention, but they make me really jittery and fidgety, it's not exactly the best feeling.

Thanks torbs, I had to have at least a 2.5 GPA to get into the professional program, and I think I have to maintain it as well. My major accounting classes I have to have B's in for them to even count. Still not my full potential, but in high school I got used to never doing homework or studying and being able to pull off A's, and now I always end up procrastinating everything.

My parents quit doing it for me, so i figured it was easier to just stop taking them... lol.
