Well I am sure this has been posted a million times... But I need some advice. I think I am going to keep my crx and just fix it up. I was wondering what kind of motor I should swap into it. I would like something with decent power to just mess around with. I want something that is a cheeper swap as well. Maybe about $500 or so. Also something I could do in my Auto's class at school. THanks for all the input!!

I'm selling my DOHC ZC motor for 500. And it's a direct bolt in, only difference is like 2 wires. It's probably the easiest and cheapest swap to do. If you need more crx info go to www.crxcommunity.com it's a very good forum for crx information.

I would look into a B18A or a DOHC ZC both are good options.

Ya, but finding a B18A swap for 500? The mounts alone are at least $100 for cheesy ones.

a guy can get a cable LS tranny for 100ish, a B18A1 in decent shape for 300...and then mounts, ecu, shift linkage...

Prolly around 600ish is my guess...and a LS is WAY WAY better than a dohc ZC...

However if I were you I'd pick up something on the lines of a D16A6, Sohc ZC, Z6, Y8...trannies are 50 bux, motors are 300...you should already have mounts and a linkage if you havn't sold those things. Then you can boost it decently for less than $1k if you just wanna have some fun.

200whp in a 1800lb car (after taking out everything lol) = FUN!!!

Those B series prices are some good ass deals, if you have the hook-ups, or someone is dumping their shit cheap.

B series is always a better route, that's what I did, but those would be some pretty cheap prices. Also, how hard would it be for someone just starting out to do the swap?

If you have the money go for the LS swap, but I would go with a d15b **** from www.hmotorsonline.com just save a couple extra bucks for shipping and get a full 125 hp swap. From there you can do anything from turbo, or just beat the piss out of your d.

With the LS your never going to be happy with the LS tranny, and you need mounts along with trying to get that bitch to fit in the bay. Axles, fluid, clutch it's going to add up quick. Torbs prices are a little off 😛

I have an LS trans and head obd0 ecu in Aberdeen, SD if you want a project you'd need to find a short block.
