What are you trying to do with the computer? We need to upgrade two office computers with hard-wired router. Internet is via radio/tower (NB internet). The software we will be running is not supported by Vista at this time. Only major things we need for it is Excel- Acounting software-and internet. Nothing really exotic..

Where else is there to look, I need to run XP Pro. I could get Vista and buy Pro and partition the hard drive or just run Pro, but I would have to buy Pro version tooin order to run 2 os on the same machine (at least from what i read online from many different sources) you need to have either vista ultimate or business. They say neither home editions will allow XP run with it. Id look a little more into it before hand.
as for machines, what exactly are you looking to do with them? I just purchased my HP Pavilion DV9235NR from best buy 1 1/2 months ago and am loving it. I believe one hell of a multimedia machine.

you can buy a program called boot magic. this allows you to run mulitple operating systems at the same time. however if you go vista, you can download a software for free that lets you run any old os on it while vista is loaded. In other words, your running windows xp like a game while vista is loaded on the computer. But for xp, check out boot magic, im not sure how it exactly works but we used it on my moms computer for japanese xp.

I would recommend those. They are very affordable and great machines. They are what we use for desktop workstations at Multiband. They are plenty fast and definitely get the job done.
