In the last 5 years, I have not seen a CLEANER example of a 2g DSM than this. It has been meticulously maintained, and it shows. If you have always wanted a 2g DSM, but can't find one that looks nice enough, I highly recommend you give this vehicle a look over. There are cheaper GSX's out there, but I doubt you will find a cleaner one, that hasn't been resprayed or molested.

  • Turbo XS BOV?
    FG2F FG2

The RFL had it's moment in 2005ish, as being the loudest "I have a turbo AND BOV" mod available. The problems 99.425% of buyers have experienced were:

    1. It seized, causing the top of it to fly off of it due to pressure
    2. Top flew off after a bit of use, due to aluminum threads that are tiny and would strip themselves raw of threads
    3. Become useless unless lubed nearly monthly (the 'o' ring on the valve loses its ability to slide easily, causing a boost leak)
    4. Blew off too easily over time, as the spring inside became to soft, requiring 10+ washers to keep it on target
    5. Attracted a ton of attention, which although often sought after, leads to people wanting to 'race' on the streets
    6. Every shift has a loud annoying blow off (when #1-#4 weren't present)
    7. Given the mechanical quality poorness, never really offered what it was intended for....protecting your vehicles components

Jeff, if you want a quality BOV, stay away from the BOV's that are not 'maintenance free'. HKS, Greddy, Tial, etc... are good options. In my years of experience, I would personally avoid the TurboXS unit as well as the Perrin BOV, although the Perrin unit is a better design that shouldn't blow apart, it still requires your to lube the 'o' ring on the valve semi-regularly.

Man, I'm sorry that the speeds are so shitty for you over there man, I was really hoping what we provided would have worked for you (when I was at IdeaOne). Try calling Marty @ Ideaone 701.361.0534 and explain the situation if you haven't already....if he isn't any help try Christel Fritz or Mike Mack @ Ideaone. I can't imagine that you are the only ones complaining...I'd think everyone from Crystal Piers Marine on down the block would be demanding faster service.

All of the DSL providers using the same lines in your area of town (all Qwest lines) and I don't foresee most of them crossing the road. Maybe Qwest would, but I wouldn't count on it.

    Or maybe Hughesnet satellite?
    http://business.hughesnet.com/explore-our-services/business-internet/business-internet-high-speed/connect-service-plans

    or WildBlue maybe? http://www.mybluedish.com/speeds-and-pricing/

I have spoke with IdeaOne on many occasions about this, and today they said they are going to stop into the surrounding businesses and see if anyone else would want faster service. They had some 3 letter abbreviation that they were going to do, which basically would evaluate the cost vs. return on their end to put new cable in the ground....

What kind of budget do you have available for internet service Jason?

I'm not certain Nick.... I guess I would have to look at what we have now, and compare to what we could have. The current service drops constantly, and at optimum speed is very difficult to load any page with flash in an acceptable time frame. I am not hating on IdeaOne, just hate the fact that my options are limited to such ancient service.

Check that out... you'll have better (much better) then 256k with that... >1mbps. Uses Sprint's 3G Network. You should be able to pick this up at any Radioshack.

I will research this more tomorrow as well.

Thank you all for the help, I have a few options to look into and will hopefully be able to come up with a new plan. I think 3mbps would be more than plenty...hell 1mbps would be great....

  • Internet options....
    FG2F FG2

The shop is located in a fairly small section of town that doesn't have any type of access to any quick wired internet connection. We have used Integra Telecom, and currently IdeaOne, both with poor results. Is there any type of newer service available in the area? Our current plan is 256k, but for the past while it truly is in the neighborhood of 26k-128k...yes really. I don't need Midco speeds, but I need something that can allow for us to work more efficiently.

There is no cable, and as it sits right now, none of the major players in the area have interest in running cable/copper/fiber optics/etc to our location...

  • First Street Legal Day at Top End Dragways
    FG2F FG2

I would like to say that I am impressed with the attitude and courtesy everyone is offering. Saturday was NOT ideal for the track owners, the sponsors, or most importantly, the racers. Collectively, Tintmasters and Top End Dragways knows this, and will continue to learn and offer the most bang for the buck that we can to our racers and spectators. I know Charlie did everything he could to try and make it as fun as possible for everyone. By 2pm, he had completely used up his payment from us to host the event + $500.... IN TRACK PREP (not including staffs pay, and other 'business' type expenses). He was willing to eat each and every cent of his profit from the day, and go in the hole, to try and get it in proper condition. That says a lot about him as a business man, but also a lot about the race days to come. I boasted about traction and how things would be so much better this year.... I still stand by those words, and after seeing how Charlie reacted in a tough spot, I am fully confident that by the 2 day event, things will be amazing. I will eat crow if I am wrong, but so many things have gone wrong for Charlie, that jumping into this business took a learning experience (Saturday) to help level out the tracks needs.

Also keep in mind, that our track day was the absolute first race of the year at Top End Dragways. The continued rain has killed his opportunity to get a good layer of rubber down on the track. He stopped into the shop today to make sure that we knew that he was doing everything he possibly could to ensure the track runs much better than it has for years.

Thank you guys again for being polite (while voicing your concerns at the same time) to Charlie and the staff. It further drives them to make sure things in the future are so much better for all of us.

  • MAY 21st TM STREET LEGAL POSTPONED
    FG2F FG2

The risk of rain and the much higher expense of track prep for 2011 has lead to a joint decision to postpone this event until the October 8th make up date. We cannot wait all day to make a choice, and given our resources (current track conditions, radar, and juice vs. squeeze) we had to decide.

We are hoping for much better weather for the June 11th date!
