I wrote this earlier today and put it on my Facebook, what's your opinion?
For those of you that say your vote doesn't matter, please take a minute to read. Please, share this with your friends. This isn't meant to be partisan, just to show how much YOUR vote truly matters.
It was in 2008 where 157 Minnesotans passed Obamacare. How do I figure? Well, according to Politico, the race between Norm Coleman and Al Franken was decided by 312 votes out of 2.9 million cast. If you have 157 of those who voted for Al Franken switch to Norm Coleman, Norm Coleman would have won the election (subtract 157 from Al Franken's column and add 157 to Norm Coleman's column), thus keeping Democrats from having an exact 60 Senator Super Majority in the Senate, which allowed Democrats to push through Obamacare with no filibuster. Therefore, it was 157 Minnesotans that ultimately passed Obamacare because the result of that election gave the Democrats the exact number of Senators they needed to pass it.
Yesterday, the city of Fargo held a vote, and in this was measure 1, a 1/2 of one cent sales tax to last for 20 years . All counting isn't done yet, but with the math (according to Kevin Wallevand at WDAY during the 6PM broadcast today), we are only 13 votes away from a recount. This means if 7 people would have voted the other way, there would have automatically been a recount. Also, the measure needs 60% to pass, it received (thus far) 60.3% (a 63 vote difference). Out of the whole city, there were 21,855 people whose votes have been counted so far (a few absentee remain to be counted over the weekend). Therefore, thus far, if 32 people had voted the other way, the tax would not have passed (if recounts show it not passing either) as it takes away 32 from the yes's and changes them to 32 no's, thus a total difference of 64 (currently a 63 vote difference).
These are just two local issues from the past 4 years, just imagine how many others there are. Just a few people in Minnesota changed the entire history of this country with their vote. YOU can too. YOUR opinion matters.
