My wife got her first speeding ticket yesterday as well as you Jason. ( I know this isn't your first) But hers had the fine amount on it along with the court date. If you pay the fine before court, your admitting your guilt and it goes on your record. If you choose to contest it, that's what the court date is for. I'd go to the adress listed on the ticket and ask them. I wouldn't take my chances on this one based on what you told me yesterday. I think it was a statewide crackdown yesterday because they were pulling people over EVERYWHERE!!!! Fuckers.

Jason, you have to call up the MN courthouse. There should be a number on the back of the ticket, or you will have to look it up in the phone book. When you call them, say you got a ticket and want to know the amount due. They'll ask you for some info on the ticket and then they will tell you. When you sign the ticket you no longer have to appear in court, as you have already plead guilty.

Yes the amount is intentionally left blank.

For speeding they give you the fine amount on the spot because its a set amount. For other offenses like exhibition driving etc, they make you call in to get a fine amount. Speeding should be right on the ticket and the cop should have told you...been there done that with police, state patrol, and sheriffs...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

So why didn't they put the fine amount on the ticket? I've had speeding tickets in MN before (not recently) and the fine amount was always on the ticket before.

I'm pretty sure my ticket for 17 over had a fine amount on it, along with the fine sheet. On another note MN TICKETS SUCK, wonder how much the state makes a year on those.

Anything outside of the tri-state area sucks more tho. Wisconsin cops are dicks and the tickets are expensive and pretty much every state between WI and NY has signs that say like $300 Minimum fine, speed enforced or something

I have been given a speeding ticket from a Minnesota sheriff without a price on it, FYI. Just follow my instructions.

You should have gotten a seperate sheet of paper for the fines. 1-10 over speed limit in clay county is $122.00

it could be a warning ticket,it usualy says warning at the bottom of the ticket....... and if its a warning ticket...... i believe that they are usualy a yellowish color.... but my guess is that the cops was just being an ass and didnt give him the sheet of paper with the fines one it..... my advice would be to call the clerk of courts and find out what the price is..... i believe this is the phone number for the clerk of courts/ court administrator........218-299-5065 ..... and if you feel that you are on solid grounds to fight the ticket..... by all means do so, and get a good lawyer(that always helps) good luck:icon_rr:

OK guys, I'm not stupid nor I did ask what I should do. Anyone can figure that out. I simply asked why I was issued a ticket without a fine clearly stated. I've had more tickets than I'd like to admit but each and every one of them clearly stated how much of a fine I was responsible for. It just seems silly to create more work for everyone by making me call in just to see what I owe. But I guess that's a liberal state for ya

But why? Why don't they make it simple and put the fine right on the ticket? I already know what I owe but still don't understand why they couldn't just tell me from the beginning.

It depends on how many tickets you have. After a certain amount of tickets in Minnesota within a certain amount of time you have mandatory court dates. No just paying the fine. I think its 3 within a 1-3 year time period. If you don't have that many tickets he probably just effed up.
