Registering for a title

Not 100% sure if it goes here, but whatever.
So I was considering picking up a car from one of the junkyards in town. The problem is, there is no title on the car. Before I head out to the DMV tommorrow to ask, does anyone have any prior experience with this? Can I title this car? There is almost no damage to the car at all, and it still (barely) runs.

you will need to track down the previous owner and see if they will get you a title. Otherwise if you can not find the owner or they refuse to give you a title, your out of luck.
