The problem is Jim - people take the banning seriously and have made Fargostreet.com a commitment to check on daily if not hourly. Banning them puts them in a negative mood and creates unwanted drama from the prospect that someone is willing to pay for them to be banned. The notion is alone is unwanted and quite frankly uncalled for. There are much more productive and tactful ways of collecting the afforementioned revenue to upgrade the site as you see fit.

If only this were slashdot and I had moderation points, you'd get +5 Insightful from me.

I visit this site as much as I can because it's great to have a local site dedicated to the scene. I got into cars starting with my 1989 Cavalier Z24 and got my information from a mailing list, that's right, mailing list, none of this web based forum crap we use today. Anyway, nothing was ever local and the topic always revolved around one car, which was a drag because being I lived in the Midwest it was hard to find other people into the car in the area. So when I finally found this site after getting my Mazda I was elated, finally a local bunch of people I could maybe hang out with, trade ideas and see some cool cars. But instead what I really found was a place filled with bickering and general dislike for the next guy.

So like I said, it's great to have a site dedicated to the Fargo car scene but it's too bad it's filled with so much bickering and immature pissing matches. I really wish people would just have fun and stop ragging on people because they don't run a DSM/Honda.

Now we have this Ban-A-Member which is NOT fun and will only cause more strife between members. Many of the other sites I frequent have a special icon you get when you donate to the site. Maybe a method of raising money that is encouraging could be implemented instead

i totally agree. banning members might generate a little bit of money, but its just going to bring more drama, and right now fargostreet already has way too much of that. donations and advertising would be the best way to go. they both generate money and wont cause any bickering between members.

you find me a forum where there is no drama i know when i use to go on SRT-4 Forums there was more on there in a day then there is on here in a week-2 weeks...the drama on here is all in good fun for the most part.. sure here and there people actually mean what they say but i know if i get a post from someone from SLS, kirk, tin or anyone else for the most part they are just joking around causing some conversation... i dont think it's a real big deal that jim is tryin to make some money to pay for something that will benefit US. it's not like he is gonna pocket it and just leave the site the way it is cause jim isn't like that he wants to make this the best site he can possibly make. So i dont know why people are gettin so mad at little things as if you were to get banned for a couple days or a week you can still come and visit the forum just can't post. A lot of people on here only do come here to see what's going on. I know i use to just come and look and not post ever but now i'm actually starting to voice my opinion and start to whore thread like Kirk over there who is leading in the posts lol well anyways i dont think it's just this forum that has drama and the banning isn't a bad thing it's just a way to have fun and get some money to make the site better

I'm probably one of the most laid back people on this site (except when it comes to politics) I argued a lot during the election, but I surely didn't bitch that Bush won. Yeah, I'll admit I was pissed when I found I was banned and didn't know why. I went to log in and couldn't...so I tried my buddies account, and was in, read the new "game" and didn't really have a way to get unbanned @ the time. I think I had a right to be a little pissed. If I didn't consider Tufte a friend or didn't know Jim I would have probably never come back.
