hey whats that rubber gasket called that helps seal the rubber intake pipe connected to the air filter called. It wraps around the rubber pipe and the flange of the air filter to help seal it better. BTW its on a 94 integra gsr.

    thanks

just above the air filter connecting to the rubber intake. right beside that green thing.... a sensor? ne ways its a rubber ring that i think helps seals the connection of the flange and the intake.

I'm going to show my n00b powers here and admit I don't know jack about Honda engines...but if it's like most newer cars these days, and judging by the area you are talking about, it would be the Mass Air Flow Sensor or MAF. Cars with their fancy computers need to measure the amount of air coming into the engine along with throttle position (TPS), incoming air temp (IAT) among other things. My old '89 Z24 used a manifold air pressure or MAP sensor combined with the IAT to get this data. I think most OBDII cars use a Mass Air Flow sensor to get the data, could be wrong. All of this tells the computer how to adjust timing, fuel trim, etc.

            Anyway, that's my guess...

you cant see any gaskets in that picture...so i think you are thinking of the MAP or MAS whichever it is.

i think im thinking its some stupid ring that doesnt have any sensors attached to it. i dont have a clue if it does anything i think it just helps seal the flange and intake tubing

I looked at it. All it is, is a gasket in between his new K&N and the intake pipe. Just more dead weight kenn!
