I'm going to go out on a limb here and venture to say anyone who supports keeping marijuana legal has never a) tried it or b) been around someone who is under the influence of marijuana (one or both). If you have you'd know how harmless it really is compared to alcohol which is already legal.

Whoever it was that wanted the "bads" of marijuana..

    1. smoke inhalation isn't good for you, irritates your lungs. Nobody (from my research or that i've heard of) has died directly from cancer due to marijuana. The only problem with this is that many marijuana smokers also smoke cigarettes which ARE known to cause lung cancer...
    2. Driving High, while somewhat easier than driving drunk, is still extremely dangerous. Your depth perception sucks and overall you should NOT be behind the wheel at all
    3. Prolonged usage can cloud your memory. The effects aren't permanent though and recreational users don't really succumb to the los of memory. Any heavy smoker that quits will get their memory back within the year.

    Now lets look at alcohol:
Possible to overdose, kills your entire body over time but especially your liver/kidneys

    Tobacco:
Addictive, causes lung cancer and other health issues

Marijuana really have any bad side effects that any legal drug/product doesn't also have, definitely nothing worse.

You can argue all you want, fact of the matter is it still won't happen.

Yes it will. It may not be COMPLETELY legal in a short period of time, but it will be decriminalized. That is already set into motion a few many places.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

Dude the paranoia that comes from pot isnt the paranoia that freaks you out and makes you want to pull out your gun and start shooting everything that might be scary...

paranoia from pot is like walking around the house with a bottle of frebreeze trying to get EVERY smell out bc you think your neighbors might smell the pot and call the cops (even though it doesnt even remotely smell liek it), or like going to bed bc your too worried somehow the cops phycically know youve been smoking or something.

Marijuana has way more carcnogenic hyrdacarbons then cigs do, so yeah you can get cancer and that shit is bad. theres a negative.

anyways, yes, some AWESOME ideas come from it... like fuckin jalepaneo cheseburger crave cases from white castle! also try watching pink floyd the wall man that shit is scary! or yeah, deep conversations about life and stuff comes out o fit too...

oh, this is just what i hear too, from friends of course. :icon_flower: :icon_geek:

I don't believe they will legalize it, and I do have reasons.

                        1. Being high delays your reaction times.

                        2. When you get pulled over and suspected for DUI they give you one or several field sobriety tests, if you fail those, you get a breathalyzer. There is know way of knowing how intoxicated someone is off marijuana on the side of the road as there is with alcohol. A cop cannot determine in a reasonable amount of time if you are "too stoned to drive" like they can if you are too drunk to drive.

                        3. The government cannot possibly regulate or tax marijuana as they do tobacco because marijuana is so easy to grow.

As far as never hearing of a car accident in ND caused by marijiuana, I was in an accident a few years ago, and the girl that hit me was found at fault(admitted to being at fault), and said it was because she was high.

Now, before you flame me and claim that I have never tried it, let me say this. When I was in high school, I was a stoner, and I got high every day because I simply did not like being in school, and being stoned seemed to make it less boring.

On another note, when I was high, I was more productive than sober. I know that this can go both ways, I've had times where I was high and didn't want to do anything, and I've had times where I was high and couldn't stop thinking about shit and wanting to do shit. The ONLY time I did homework in high school was when I was high.

I am not against legalization, I just honestly don't think it will happen.

Also, there is a difference between hemp and marijuana, they are not the same plant, they just look alike(a closer look will tell you the leaf of one has 5 points, where as the leaf of the other has 7).

Hemp is extremely useful, and would be a great resource to the nation, I just don't believe that marijuana is nearly as useful.

i have problems picking stuff up because I cut the end of my thumb off THREE YEARS AGO and I dont go around crashing my car into little girls on bycicles like the commercial says. the depth perception argument is lame.

does dr phil deserve to preach his texas estrogen bs to the word? dont believe everything the tv tells you.

think for two seconds about who is providing the info and what their agenda is. politcs are always a hit on this site, who is deciding its not feasible or plausible? we freaking strapped ourselves to a rocket and rode the bitch to the moon but we cant regulate and profit from the sales of a plant? get serious. this is america.

on a side note, alcholism is a "disease" but pot heads are worthless hippie losers. you can kill somebody with your car and beat your kids but be forgiven because your "sick" but you work your whole life, smoke a joint every now and again and your a worthless piece of shit? wheres your fucking logic now?

... obviously i picked cell phones

There is to much influence from big business companies.

How do you think drug reps would sell there new Anti-depressant if smoking pot was legal. No one would make any money on it, as it could only be sold as a "Herbal Supplement", as that's what it is. They cannot trademark it to jack the prices, like the rest of the lab-created drugs they force down our throats. The only thing the govt. could do would be to tax the hell out of it, like tobacco and take there cut off the top.

I do not see it becoming legal as there is to much gray area on issues, and by the time all is figured out I will have already smoked my last joint...

The one thing about decriminalization is this...it's already begun in some states/cities. Sure the US Supreme court ruled it's illegal under any circumstances but they also ruled a slave was property. The court only rules, those rulings mean nothing if not enforced. Some cities/states (Alaska, what was it..detroit? or colorado or something, parts of California) all basically don't regulate or cite for small possession of it. They realize it's a waste of either jail space or tax payer money to try fight something so harmless.

Another good point was brought up regarding the differences between hemp and marijuana. Besides the # of leaves, marijuana is grown far apart to promote flowering/leaves whereas hemp is grown packed together to promote stock growth and little flowering/leave chutes. The main reason I bunch them together is that if it was re-legalized it would be senseless to have paid people to always inspect each growing site to verify that of those 100+ acres of hemp that not 1 was a marijuana plant. Instead they could do something like (for ever 1 marijuana plant 5 hemp plants must be grown) just to get some sort of regulation going on it while keeping it legal. Who knows though really...it's too much of a political suicide to talk about it so it'll take some time I bet and some slow but subtle changes for it to be legalized.
