Microsoft also checks XP and if it catches 2 of the same serial codes online at the same time it disables both systems. So if you register it with the same # as someone else and you're both online...wave byebye to your OS.

I don't see how that will happen, because I am running 3 computers that all have windows xp home and I used a serial key I got from someone else on all three. They are all online all the time and other than the fact every once and a while I get a message that says my windows software in not genuine, I have never had a problem.

I'm using a friend's copy of XP on my desktop and I've never had that happen to me.

...basically you just wont be able to do windows updates.....and you can find those in an offline format via a 3rd party page.... with that being said.
