Im pretty sure that almost every "econobox" on this site is faster than your cougar while they all get probly twice as many mpg, with better reliablity. And the reason they aren't on the road is they are shit to start with and they aren't worth fixing or taking car of. If i found a nice condition 86 ford tempo i wouldn't keep it because they are tough to find in nice shape.....

Small car + 4 banger = econobox maybe you don't drive one but there are plenty of others on here who do. The fact that there are so few running let alone in the kind of shape mine is is reason enough to keep it, add to that the fact that its a fox bodied Ford and its a perfect platform to do something original. That in and of itself is the fun part for me.

And this is why most people don't like you, if it has 4 cylinders you think it is a piece of shit and don't like it.

Did I say anything bad about the cars at all!? There are plenty of 4 banger cars i like even some i'd buy and drive like an EVO, a turbocoupe, an SVO mustang, a 240SX. I just called them what they are, if you guys take offense to that you're much more sensative than i thought, sorry to mess with your delicate sensabilities. To those who said that my cars is a POS and theres no more aroung b/c they all broke.

First, they are 20 years old regardless of who made it or where it was made its gonna break in that period of time.

Second, they are still fox bodied cars which i believe is one of the most popular drag racing platforms ever.

Third, mine is a special edition of which only a hanful were made, maybe not worth much to others but maybe someday it will be. Who predicted the $4000 hemi cudas would be worth millions 30 years down the road.

I'm not saying my car will be worth millions or comparing it to the great muscle cars of the past but its still a great platform.

Finally for the reliability end anything can last if you know how to keep it up.

I hate giving these long winded speeches but i just keep getting pushed into it, so lay off me. I'm not on here to tell anybody they suck and should drive only american cars with V8's. Do your own thing and i'll do mine, just quit acting like children and spinning what i say to make me out to be the bad guy.

From now on we will refer to your car as "inbred hillbillymobile" cuz that is what it is, and you can refer to my "econobox".

Your problem is that what you say comes across as offensive and you don't even realize it. Maybe you should take a little more time thinking about what you say instead of spitting out "Small car + 4 banger = econobox" and then acting like you didn't say anything retarded.

Well to get things back on topic I'm hoping to get a saturday away from work just to make it to the track. Then I will try for some 60' under 2.4sec and break into the 15s @87mph. Completely stock on my Ga. After I accomplish that then the goal is to find a decent platform for a project.:icon_king:

How the hell is calling an orange an orange offensive. I didn't say all the 4 cylinder cars in the world pieces of crap or something like that did I? Can we not all agree that those kinds of cars were designed and built to be economical, even the ones that are fast were engineered to be fast on a budget right. If you take offense to that then you are just too goddamn sensative and need to lighten up a bit.

If you don't start moderating yourself and think before you type, I will. It's a good thing I only mod on this site and don't have admin privelages. If I did, You would be Permabanned.

Now let's get this thread back on topic fellas before It is forced to be closed.

No, I don't think we can agree on that. Sorry. S2000's, Evo's, STi's, WRX's, SRT4's, any of the Mazdaspeed cars, Supra's, 300zx's, etc... were designed to provide maximum performance in a small package, much like the Mustang, Cuda, GTO, Camaro, etc... of days past, and I think you'd be pretty hard pressed to call them "Econoboxes" for their time. An "Econobox" would more fit with anything Geo made, the Honda civics, Kia's, most Hyundai's, etc... I'd love to know how a $35k car can be considered an economy/budget car that is fast. $35k is a pretty serious chunk of change last I checked. But lets see...econo boxes normally (at least in my mind) come factory without Powersteering, Power locks, power windows, AC, CD players, sunroofs, awd, etc...

So please, don't tell me my car is an econobox.

I'd be happy with breaking into the 12's. Hell, if I actually learn to launch and cut the '60 down maybe deeper. 2.2-2.5 '60 on slicks is just embarassing. :icon_scratch:
