Speed Limits
-
All these tickets i've gotten this past week have stressed me out, I need to vent.
WHY THE FUCK DO PEOPLE FEEL THE NEED TO DRIVE 10MPH or MORE LESS THAN THE SPEED LIMIT?!?!?! Every fucking day I drive 2 or 3 round trips to NDSU from my house in south Moorhead and I have come to the realization that nobody knows what the fuck speed limits are. On the way home from lifting tonight I was on a two lane highway posted at 50MPH...the two fuckwads in front of me taking up both lanes were not only driving the same speed as each other BUT the two fuckfaces were driving 35 GODDAMN MILES AN HOUR. FUck you people, seriously. I hope you fucking die if you drive like that, and I hope it's painful as hell and all your family members get some skin eating virus that slowly kills them. I'm sick of all these fuckups that still exist because Darwinism doesn't always kill off the idiots. Drive the goddamn posted speed limit or don't drive at all, I don't give a fuck how icy it is (sorta). If there are multiple lanes and you feel the urge to drive 30% of the posted speed then get as far over to the right as you possibly can, preferably in a ditch. GOASIDPJOASIDHASPOIFHASPODIASJ DA fucking people...
I feel a little better now...thank you for letting me waste your time.

They are called speed "limits" for a reason, if you didn't know, the posted "speed limit" is the maximum speed a motor vehicle is supposed to be traveling in ideal conditions. I agree its frustrating when people drive slower than the speed limit, but that's their choice. It's not like they HAVE to drive 45 in a 45 mph speed limit.
-
I don't care if they go 45 in a 45, I DO care when they go 35 in a 50. Nothing short of a fucking whiteout blizzard or extreme downpour warrants that.

I'd rather see someone KNOW that they need to slow down than think that they can drive the posted speed limit. Would you prefer that they drive at a speed that they are not comfortable with and potentially get into an accident? Me either.

intentionally backing up traffic is stupid. it's going to be so cool when the dumbass-club causes an ambulance 1/4mi behind them to not get to the hospital in time.
driving is a social activity. you should attempt to screw with other people as little as possible. you never know when someone has had enough of kids screwing around, lost their job that day, and is packing heat.

i used to drive 20mph down 25th with a friend driving next to me right after school got out. we used to get at least a quarter mile of cars behind us really pissed off.
yeah used to do the same thing it is definatly fun and then you get one friend to speed up so cars switch lanes then he slows down while u speed up and try and get cars to switch lanes as many times as possiblie before they figure it out........oh fun times fun times -
^^ I would have laughed at the person in the taurus for doing it, if I was driving my bonneville i'd probably run into them again on purpose.

i saw a Ram towing a huge trailer one night a few weeks ago after work. They were going south and nearly cut off someone in the middle lane. Didn't even signal. I laughed and did the same thing to them except i sped up instead of going the same speed like they were. But for some reason, it was ok for them to do that but not me because they flashed their lights at me.

One time last winter I was heading to school and the light in front of me had been green for about a second and I was probably 200 feet back so I was already going and had a clear shot through. Some asshole in his escalade blew through from the side traffic and cut me way off and it pissed the hell out of me, lucky for me I was in my bonneville. I sped up to him in the left lane and there was a car right in front of me leaving JUST enough space for me to cut in front of him without clipping him so I did and then sped up and slammed on my brakes really quick. He flipped his lights on and off at me and honked like hell and I just laughed and took off. He slowed way down too for some odd reason...fucker.

Of course, if there are people behind me that obviously want around me, i pull over and let them pass me. This happens most commonly when I am driving through a neighborhood of old houses and am checking them out or something. In this case, I'll go slower than the posted limit, both so I can see the buildings, and because I am not focusing solely on my driving so it isn't safe for me to be going any faster. If someone pulls up behind me and is clearly in a hurry, I'll pull over and let them around me. Less stressful for everyone.
The best driving policy is to not make anyone else alter their behavior. I can't say I always live up to it, but I generally try. I get impatient with people that can't decide what lane they're going to choose and are going too slowly, and occasionally will pass them in the lane that they decide (too late) that they want to be in. This only upsets them because not only do they not know what they're doing, but they also can't be bothered to look in their mirrors - they have extremely poor situational awareness. You can often tell when another driver isn't thinking as fast as they need to be because their inputs are jerky and delayed, or they make unnecessary movements.
Not screwing with other people means getting out of the way of people that want to overtake you, and not tailgating people that are infront of you. The traffic density in Fargo is low enough that there's little excuse for inconveniencing other people.
