I thought you didn't have to put in 2 weeks in ND? If that's so, why even do that?

And tell him you want your money back for paying his skank asses way into this country...

You don't have to put in your 2 weeks anywhere. It is just being nice. My step dad tells me the same thing that tjamz said about refrences. When he gets calls about past employees all he can say is confirm they worked there, the dates, position/type of work they did.(pretty much confirm or deny what was put as there work history) I can remember if he said he gives any information about why they left or if they were fired, but pretty sure he doesn't.

I delt with the same shit at Tires Plus. Except I just got sick of it and didnt go to work one day, boss called and asked if I was coming in that day and told him nope. He asked when he could expect me to be in again and I told him never, he said have a nice fucking life and hung up on me. It was probably not the best way to deal with shit, but I usually just get back at people, left them in a tight spot till they could find someone else. My advice, quit just dont do it like that.

kick the foreman in the balls..that'll take care of it

Like someone else said, in ND you don't need a 1 or 2 weeks notice, however at the same time a ND employer can fire you on the spot... Now I believe in MN they can fire you on the spot as well, but in MN they will need a reason to fire, unlike ND they won't.. (Right to work, will to work, whatever it's called..) An exit interview would also be good.. By doing one of those, it shows that you have left on good terms.. Try and receive any documents that include work history as far as how many missed days, etc. etc. Also, if you can, don't use your direct foreman as a reference, try going 1 step up if you can..

Nope, you really don't need a reason to can someone in MN. It is called employment at will. You are free to work for an employer and stop working for them at any time. Likewise, they are free to employ you and they are also free to let you go at any time.
