I can't afford to get the hell out 🙂

Nearly ended up in school at UofM-TC (glad I didn't) but ended up at MSUM instead. Never had a real desire to move too terribly far away for college (originally from NW Cass County).

Will probably start seriously looking at moving to MPLS this fall.

I moved to Fargo for school. I'm originally from Fergus Falls, to be honest it's boring there but I was a lot happier living there. I like being in the outdoors, whether its hunting, fishing, bowfishing, 4 wheeling, etc. Im not much for living in the city, I'd rather have the peace and quiet of the country and the freedom, I can't exactly step out my door up here and shoot my guns or be as loud as I want to, or be in a 5 mile radius of 10 lakes. Most people up here seem to be nice, and the city has some benefits that small towns dont have, but yet not the crazy population of the Metro area. I wouldnt mind staying up here after school, just probably move out of town.

      Current Cars:
08 Honda Ruckus - Stunt Machine
      93 Subaru Impreza L - DD/ Winter beater
90 Honda CRX - Project car
      90 Honda CRX Dx - Burnt (R.I.P.) - Racecar

      Past Cars: 85 Chevy C-10, 87 Dodge D-50, 91 Honda Prelude Si, 91 Buick Regal, 91 Acura Integra Ls, 87 Mazda RX-7, 90 Honda Civic Si, 91 Honda Civic Si, 89 Chevy S-10, 91 Honda Crx Hf, 91 Acura Integra Rs, 95 Subaru Impreza L, 92 Acura Integra GSR, 89 Mazda RX-7 (LT1), 88 Mazda RX-7, 92 Civic Cx, 87 Mazda RX-7 TII

I have lived in West Fargo all my life. I love it here because if there is ever anything I need I can simply go around my neighborhood and get it. I know alot of people and most of them are the right people to know. I love it here because its like a big city without the overpopulation part. Were not too far away from the lake country in Minnesota or the hunting country out west in ND. I also like the fact that were in the center of the countinent so that means no hurricanes, not a high possibility for a terrorist attack, no tsunami's, no crazy people to boost crime rate (except for the meth tweekers that come out at night), and mainly because of the friendly people that live here. When I go to college I may move somewhere similar to ND but would like to come back after I graduate.

        Thats why.

Who knows. Even if they say they have who knows if they really have...why would they spend all that money to build them just to shut them down, I doubt that we'd really disarm. Either way, I'd be willing to bet Russia or whoever attacked us (if anyone ever did) would take care of this area just to be safe. At least we'd get a pretty fireworks show before we were turned into ashes 😄

I do know my dad had to work on some of the silos awhile back and had to go through extensive background checks and sign some secrecy affidavits(sp) or whatever before he was allowed to work in there.

I've been here my whole life except for maybe 6 months when I was a baby. It's not too big, but not too small either. It's just the right size where if you want to go out shopping, you don't have to make it an all day event by driving 20 miles while fighting crazy amounts of traffic. If there were more great jobs in this area I would probably stay here my whole life, but I'll more than likely end up moving to the cities after school.

I moved up here 6 years ago this summer. Originally for summer school i was 16 at the time my family in arizona told me it would be better because of my dad, I come to find out im stuck in this hell hole!!! I never liked here the day i got off the plane! Yes i do have good friends and a very beautiful woman that i met up here and she and them are the ones that are keeping me here, if it were different i would be back home going to school and hopefully running my own buisness. I do plan on doing this in a year or so. I miss the west so much there is 50 times more things to do there then here. Hell going to san diego,L.A.,santa barbra etc...is about the same time travel as from here to the cities and thats doing 80 all the way. I dunno i guess this shit hole has grown on me but i cant wait to go back home and start my family!

I moved here from New Jersey when my mother started teaching at MSUM, after graduation i moved to San Diego, then i moved back for free college. Now I'm married and own a house here. When my children all get to schooling age I'll leave here again.

Whatever people say about this place, it's not that bad. I've been to just about everywhere of note in the USA, this place is as good as any. More positives then negatives anyway.

I do miss the mountains though.

and yes, it's getting to the point where most if not all silo sites have been demolished. The only one I know off the top of my head that may still be atleast somewhat active is between hope and colgate ND. I believe it was some sort of control center for the area and was somewhat active with a military presence up until the late 90s. I haven't been by there since but I believe the buildings on site were still standing as of a couple years ago.

I live here because my fathers parents lived here and we wanted to come home before his cancer got to him. I've been here ever since (I was 6). I like it here, weather isn't bad, I mean we all complain about it but really, we have a good 8 months of the year that don't totally suck. Crime is low except for the jackasses that want your $50 car stereo. It's cheap to live here and the jobs pay pretty well. I live here cuz I like it I guess.

It would be interesting to see how many of you have actually gotten out of the area / lived somewhere else for an extended period of time.

I know Chris has and a few other of you have lived different places, but I can't stand Fargo. There is a huge lack of diversity and culture, but many people who live there don't see it becuase they are surrounded with people with similar backgrounds and interests.

Anyway, I'd never live on the North Dakota side anyway...

Nuclear silo's are not the major target for nuclear attack, atleast from what I've read becuase most of them are built to withstand everything but a direct hit... which would be a waste of a missle. The main targets would be largely populated cities etc...

If I'm remembering correctly, if a Nuclear war happened with another major power, many of the missles would be detonated not on the ground (where they may have the capability of destory a silo) but high above a populated area, designed to kill a large area with fallout. Regardless, the nuclear strike capabilities of the US are nowhere near dismantled, nor is there a dire need to maintain thousands upon thousands of nuclear weapons under the old theory of deterance as the soviet union no longer exists.

We still have more then enough missles to blow the world up a few times over, and during a nuclear war retaliation would not be aimed at dis-arming every nuclear weapon but destroying the country... Hence the whole cold war.

Anyway, Fargo is cold as shit, everybody is a lutheran (not a bad thing just saying), despite what you think theres very little "culture," and it has that small town appeal (which is very appealing for some, while not for others). Oh, and its conservative as all hell.

I lived in the twin cities when I was little, then New York, moved to moorhead, and then back to the Twin Cities. I'm sure I'll end up on one of the coasts... NYC or West Coast somewhere.

That being said, growing up in Fargo wasn't an all bad experience... although I feel like I missed out on alot.

I know Chris has and a few other of you have lived different places, but I can't stand Fargo. There is a huge lack of diversity and culture, but many people who live there don't see it becuase they are surrounded with people with similar backgrounds and interests.

                                          Let's see....

                                          Lutheran? Check.

                                          Culture? Check

                                          Conservative? Check, check, check.

Sounds perfect if you ask me.
