If you paid for someone to work on your car, and they were slow and doing an unsatisfactory job, and you complained about them, should it be your job to do the work you paid for.....I know it isn't an exact comparison, and i agree they could lighten up on them a bit, but it is the same concept. Just my thoughts on it.This is an AWESOME comparison! Thank you. Thats a great way to explain my point on how they could do a better job.

I can't think of one place where they clean off the end of your driveway as well. Get over it you whiny bitches. It would take then 20x as long to clean off your driveway as well.fuggin whiners
Never did I once say they need to come clean off my driveway. Can you please show me where I said that? I said they need the little things that go on the one end of the plow, so that they can put it down while they're plowing in front of a driveway, so they don't put a 2 foot pile of snow there. And for the record I know of a place where they do this exact thing, its in Minot. When I lived w/ my parents there, I watched the snow plows do this MANY MANY times. How hard can that be? Oh no I have to pull a lever every 10 seconds while I drive down some streets.

That little mythical atachment you speak of will not only cost the taxpayers more money but it will also slow down the plowing. It takes a snow-plow 20 seconds to cruise down a street and take care of the snow. This attachment would have the initial cost to purchase it, install it and maintain it. Now in addition to that, you have to train drivers on how to use it. Now if they don't use it on one person's driveway they sure as hell are going to bitch about it. The driver will not be able to go as fast down the street as they have to use the lever to operate the damn thing. Instead of 20 seconds to clear one side of the block you are looking at 45 seconds or a minute. Multiply this additional time by every single street in Fargo that needs to be cleared and you have a helluva lot of extra time and manpower to clear the streets.
That attachment you speak of is pointless. Get off yer lazy ass and shovel the damn driveway.

so that doubles or triples the time it takes to plow the street and people would start bitching because the streets aren't being plowed fast enough...
...and then they'll bitch when the taxes go up so the city can fund upgrading their 20 year old trucks and short staff.

Ok quick poll, who here has actually ridden in a city plow/road grater during snow removal? If you havent u have no idea how hard it is, people driving, people parking cars wrong, pressed for time, and having to do a quality job, being out all night working with no sleep, having people call in and bitch about every little thing. You dont have the time nor abililty to focus on ppl's driveways even with the little attachment you talk about. It is much harder than you think it is, especially to do a quality job, and there's always people that are gonna go bitch to the supervisors at the city cause they feel it wasnt done right, and you know what, most citys could give 2 shits less about a little snow in your driveway it's called a shovel, use it. If anyone doesnt grasp the concept of what it's like to plow ask my dad he'd probably be glad to tell you all the shit they have to put up with while doing it.
Sorry bout the ranting but i've worked for the city doing road maintainance and had to listen to whiny people, and have heard about all the shit my dad puts up with when he's plowing. Some people just cant be satisfied. Would u rather have the city just say the hell with it and leave all the snow on the roads, be happy with what you get.

People bitching about their driveways is one thing...and that thing is lazy and stupid.
People bitching about how main roads are still a shitpile to drive on 8 hours after the heavy snow started on the other hand have a legitimate reason to be pissed. Unless I missed the memo, last time I checked University was a main road south of 19th? -

I have never known too many city employees to be hard workers...;)That is true for a lot of them...but there are some that actually work their asses off. It was bs that the main roads werent plowed, I couldnt drive anywhere's till yesterday, not the plows fault it's the City supervisors that were gay on that one.

For the record I shovel my driveway and sidewalks EVERY time it snows. And you have NO clue what kid of a person I am so how do you get off calling me lazy? Since I own my own house, I have to shovel, and clearing out a 2 foot deep pile of snow thats compacted from being driven on, and about 4 feet wide at the end of the driveway, gets old REALLY fast. If its something you don't mind doing, then come on over and do it. Obviously you wouldn't do it for someone else because it is, in fact, a pain in the ass.

The plows I saw using this device didn't go one bit slower than the ones without it. Prove it to me that it would take them 3 times as long.

I feel ur pain troy...thats the only downside of owning ur own house is shoveling the damn driveway and sidewalks...its a pain in the ass....espessially when the drifts in front of ur garage door is about 4 feet tall....and theres another 2-3 foot pile in front of ur driveway from the plow.

It's fargo, if u dont like the snow then dont live here, I bet I have a much bigger driveway back home than pretty much everyone here, and I used to shovel all day, and that was just what was needed around all the buildings. I took as long to shovel a path in front of my barn then it takes most ppl to do there driveway, just to get the tractor out. Oh and Alllis D-17 with 6' blower FTW.
