ya, i know theres prolly nothing happening without a code being thrown, was just a though. didn't get to much time with the scanner so i only got accurate reads in the first 3 gears but like i said, 8.3 in first and then 13.3 in 2nd and 3rd

forget that scanner, if you dont have both 02 sensors in you are going to run very rich. Go to www.o2simulator.com and buy a simulator this will help the code and correct your a/f. Also invest in a boost gauge and an AFC.....then you can tune it properly.

at least then you know whats going on though, with an AFC. I think he was gonna either switch back over to the stock cat or a high flow, aren't those o2 simmulators kinda of a hit or miss?

            We already know that.

But, unless he is attempting to compensate for larger injectors or other mods, why get an AFC? There is something that is causing the car to have this problem. By using the AFC to fix it, all you are doing is putting a band-aid on it.

I highly doubt your injector pulse rates have anything to do with it. they are controlled by your ecu. Having a bad ecu could affect this, but is probably not that likely. If you had a diesel vehicle it would be more common to have problems related to injectors or the pulse rate. What brought you to onto the idea of checking the pulse rates????

Have you checked your MAF, and for boost/vacuum leaks? Also did this happen after you swapped to a differant BOV or intake or something like that? if so put it back to how it is an see if it has the same problem.

lol well i didn't really go into trying to check pulse rates unfortunatley the eclipse didn't have many sensors to get readings from. he did just get a new bov on but i think he was having the problems before that my thoughts were boost leak, maf, or maybe some bad / dirty injectors. i thought the wierd pulse rate may have shown something wrong with the injectors but ya, it was just a random guess. i guess he had it checked out by a mechanic who said there were no boost leaks so the other cause would be the maf. idk does anyone have a maf we could swap out with to see if thats the problem or would the scanner show the maf reading wrong through low voltage leves or anything?

lol cant really remember all of it. like i said barely had any time with it. there really wasn't very much to monitor or nothing helpfull at least. thats why im giving you things like the pulse widths. the eclipse wasn't even giving us rpms or the usual things you would want to monitor. when i had my celica hooked up it was everything you could ever want and more. eclipse its like battery voltage and random things like fuel tank preasure. hopefully we can take it out again tomorrow though and i can get more time to check things

check the boost leaks your self. you can build a tool for like $5.

why did he change the BOV?

OWNED. and what SmitEvo says is true.

but before you do that get your self a wideband and boost gauge.

We have a MAF here to test. An O2 simulator simply shows the ECU that the cat is working correctly. It gives it a constant voltage reading like the second O2 would be doing.

Was this done at full throttle? I know when I tested it myself, it seemed to drive fine after a few minutes. Definately check boost leaks.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

not my car lol he has has a cheep boost gauge though. anyways with the set up he has now i thought a boost leak would be very possible and why did he change the bov? to make it louder of course :icon_geek:

well, if there wasnt a leak before and you mess with stuff, then that could change that. and you have no idea if the mechanic he took it to could actually test it.

I would bet it has a somewhat large boost leak. It fits the symptoms perfectly.

I believe that the ECU requires the O2 sensor to switch between .7 or whatever and 0 otherwise it will set a code
