Yea, in all honesty, i know you are excited to start modding, but use this time to pay the car off. Then when you can start modding, you don't have to worry about payments or anything. I know i have always had my cars completely paid off so my parents can't say anything about what i do to them, and when i did take a loan out to get a truck, im paying that off before i spend any significant money on anything else.

I'd say pay it off, make sure the title's in your name and then do anything you want to it. When I bought my CRX my parents took back my other car, which I was gonna use for a winter beater, and for something to drive when i'm doing stuff to my car. So now everytime I work on it (for example when my motor swap was done) Im basically without a car and need to hurry up and throw stuff together and hope nothing is wrong with it. They also completely dropped me from insurance and everything. But anyways, pay it off get the title in your name and then they cant do shit about it.

get some 315/50r/15's on that honduh!!!!...wide FTW!o and why would you purchase a warranty on a honda with less than 100k???...you plan on ripping the shit outa it that bad?...damn...if a honda breaks with less than 100k on it there's something wrong
i did not choose this car. i was at work when my parents took my cougar and got it. even when i do pay it off i can't mod it or it will be sold. wait until i can put the title in my name.... that wont be until next april. and even then i can't because it has the warranty ... 2 years and my parents wont want me doing anything to it. literally a direct quote form my mom when i told her that my friend missed her honda and was going to get another, "yea well she should have kept her piece of shit honda". i dont know if that helps you get a better idea of how my parents act and what they think.

So your parents picked out a car for you, then make you pay for it, then tell you what you can and can't do to it.

i would rather buy my own car so i know what im getting cause most parents dont know what young adults like or just dont agree with what we are doing to these cars these days...i guess i would be pretty pissed......my parents had bought me a truck for my first car and my dad didnt even want me to put a cd player in it...they grew out of it fast...mel maybe they dont want you to mod it when you are still making payments on in...maybe afraid that you will start missing payments..just my opinion though.

Sounds like your mom is treating this thing like a lease. I don't blame her really, and here is why:
At present, you do not own the vehicle, they do. They put the money into buying it and are doing their best to protect their investment. Regardless of what the warranty says, it is in their best interest to mandate that you leave the car stock.
Why, you ask? Well, for starters it is going to hold its value much better if it remains 100% OEM since there will be much less wear and tear on the vehicle from being modded (even slightly). For example, larger rims tend to have less shock absorption, so the suspension has to do more to compensate...but wait, you want an aftermarket suspension as well...that makes things stiffer so now the car has to absorb the shock of every bump on the road which causes other things to go wrong such as twisting of the vehicle that can cause the doors to not seal properly. This of course can lead to more dirt getting inside the car which will cause the carpets to become more grimy and require more vacuuming and shampooing, which will ultimately lead to the carpet deteriorating at a faster rate due to higher amounts of activity from the added vacuuming and shampooing.
Don't even get me started on turboing a car, especially one that did not come stock with one. Adding power almost always shortens the life expectancy of the drivetrain and there is nothing worse than having to shell out extra money for a new motor when you are still making the monthly payments on a car you don't even own yet. What happens if you say "Fuck it" and just leave the car with the blown motor and tell your parents to get bent? They incur another bill aside from what they already have invested in the car, thats what happens. Why would they want to potentially subject themselves to something like this?
Lets not forget that adding aftermarket parts generally LOWERS the value of the car. Add $5000 in aftermarket parts and watch the value drop $2500 in turn.
Tell me again why your parents are unreasonable.

I just think some parents get off on the whole "power trip" thing.... not saying i am 100% against what they have said or are wanting you to do. but i think some parents need to lighten the fuck up..... i would tell my parents to go fuck themselfs if i'm going to pay for a car i can't do anything to.... i would just bum rides and have them sell the car. but my parents have never acted so controling and uterly stupid....plus the fact i'm over 18 so as long as i don't act completly like an ass i can pretty much do what i want to....
