I was just wondering what everyone thinks and if anyone really knows much about a 1990-1993 toyota MR2? I just thought that they are a pretty cool looking car and that they are kinda hard to come by. Give me your thoughts. Im thinkn about maybe getting one and turning it into a project since nobody around here has one.

    thanx

I love the older Mr2's especially the turboed ones. they are however pretty hard to come by, at least one thats in good shape. if i saw a good one up for sale i prolly wouldn't think to long about selling the celi and buying it 😄

MKII MR-2's are good, the 3S-GTE is one HELL of an engine. Overengineered like the 2JZ.

          BUT.

Every MKI MR-2 owner I've ever talked to....they swear by them, and refuse to drive anything else.

EDIT: And I don't mean in the same sense that I swear by the CA18. The guy that runs the Indianapolis-area touge runs a naturally apsirated MKI MR-2, and has ruined numerous 240s, RX-7s, even a 944 porsche. The braking on that car is incredible since it doesn' weigh shit. Get some agressive brake pads and a few bolt ons and you're good to go.

finding a nice MR2 alone will be a hard task. finding a turboed one even harder. i personally would almost try to find a shell or a high milage one and do an engine swap. shouldn't have to hard of a time coming across a 3S-GTE seeing as how they came in the celis too. it's a project car, before you put that new engine, build it for more boost :woot:

Last time I was at the junk yard they had a mr2 shell in the back corner and it didn't look in too bad of condition. Ill double check when I go there tomorrow.
