You'd need everything from a TT ECU, exhuast manifolds, oil feed lines, intercooler with piping etc etc etc...Trust me buddy, your best bet is to just drive it the way that it is, and later on down the road, buy something better...Unless you still want to talk about dropping in an SR20 or maybe, if it fits, an RB26...granted that engine would cost as much as your entire car...

      And Z31, it IS a Z31...89 NA Z31...AUTOMATIC if I may add...

        an RB would probably work.

Have you thought about the vg30dett out of a z32?

IMO i'd do a full engine swap to a stock turbo one, it'd be safer and more reliable that way. I know people that have done NA -> TII swaps in FC's and they turned out great.

The Z32 engine is huge compared to the Z31 engine that's in there. There would be so many clearance issues. That would be like me trying to put a 6G72TT in the venge...Just to big. I say RB26 All the way...

RB25s are cheap. Be ready to weld and wire...

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

actually those cars could be had with a RB25 in them in jap land and aussie-land. As far as ding a turbo swap, its alot more work than it seems. you are best off finding a complete car, just sold one in wahp for $300, you missed out big on that one. You need:
                front crossmember
                motor mounts
                driver side exhaust mani
                turbo and elbow
                downpipe
                oil pan/ feed line
                charge pipe
                ECU
and if you swap to a 5-speed, the trans and a driveshaft
                shifter and console
                cluth pedal and master cyl
                OR
complete rusted out stock Z31 turbo car

Honestly it turns out to be alot of work, and your best bet is pulling the motor and assembling everything on it. Also i would not look for a turbo engine swap, as they are 7.8:1 compression, and are absolutely dead off boost. while you have it apart, throw the stock T3 in the trash and pick up a 50 trim or 60 trim, just need the exhaust housing for the stock turbo machined out.
If you are interested in doing the swap, im sure Z31 and I would be happy to do the work for some cash.

Yeah, except for the fact that you don't exactly have a super high paying job...if this were something you wanted to do, you are going to need to start putting money away out of your paycheck...

no, thats everything you need to convert your VG30E to a VG30ET. your looking at substantially more to convert to a RB25, just keep dreaming about doing that. like i said, best bet is find a really shitty 84-88 z31 turbo 5 speed, wrecked, rusted so you can see through it, whatever. long as its $500 or less. start stripping parts off of it and get em cleaned up. To swap everything onto your motor your looking at probably 40 hours labor to do it the right way, thats switching to a 5-speed as well. add in the cost of new gaskets, timing belt if you havent done it lately, O2 sensor, clutch etc. if you arent doing it yourself, make sure you have at least $1500 saved up, plus the donor car. If you do it yourself, figure in about $500-$1000 in extra parts. Plus the cost of a new turbo or rebuilding the stock t3/t25.

well, there is a complete turbo automatic sitting in Hazers, but those guys are complete failures at life, bet you couldnt get it for less than $1000, and its worth dick. if you arent already, get an account on http://www.z31performance.com/forum/ and look in the classifieds section for shitty cars. or post up a wanted ad. also keep an eye on ebay there are some local ones on there. You could go to hazers and ask them about the car, but dont sound too interested. its blue and is sitting close to the buildings on the north end of the yard. You might stumble upon one locally as well, i see them from time to time and will look for one.

Yeah i could go there and ask about it. Of course i would have to be very clear about it due to the fact they dont even look for it, My brother and i went there and they just totally blew us off so we walked out pissed off, i have yet to see a decent guy who works there. and i have seen a couple Z31's that could be parted out.

How wild do you want to get with this car, is it going to be daily driver? I would start with the auto to manual swap.http://www.xenonz31.com/Modification/Auto_to_Manual_Swap/auto_to_manual_swap.html The reason is that the N/A auto trans is for gas milage (25 MPG) 130 WHP and the car runs 18 second 1/4mi. with the manual you will run 16.5@83mph in the 1/4 mi. My N/A auto trans started slipping at 180WHP and was slow off the line.

so what im hoping on doing with it is swapping the engine for a RB25DETT or a RB26DETT. and it has to be manual, i checked the in-forum for that ZX engine and it was gone.
