alright so just wondering if anyone has any idea how this would work, so i was planning on throwing an indash tv in my car and remember there was a big thread on here about how most of them are hooked up to the ebrake and how the ebreak has to be activated for it to work, now my car has oversized breaks that affects the sensor so my break light in the car stays on at all times wether it is engaged or not, any idea if this would be enough to make the tv work at all times or would i still have to get something else done to override it?

well for 1 the brake lights in your car have nothing to do with the ebrake. so no thats not going to make a difference.

If its a older model indash just hook the ebrake wire to a ground and it will work...if its a newer one it might be more complicated than that...but that should work.

its not the cars brakes just the dash sensor telling you when the ebrake is on or off

For the light on the dash to turn on from your e-brake, most of the time it uses a sensor that monitors weather the ebrake is engaged or not.

Just bypass the e-brake sensor feature like everybody else does. Why does having differant breaks on ur car make the light stay on? it shouldn't..

            that still doesnt matter....

Just wire it to the ground and it will work.

Depends 100% on the brand of the DVD player. Some require 3-4 steps to ensure that the ebrake is in fact hooked up properly and the car isn't moving (alpine pops in my head for this), so grounding the wire won't do anything for you. Clarion requires the wire to see ground/open/ground before you can watch a movie on the screen, JVC is straight up ground, can't remember what Kenwood requires.... At any rate, check what conditions need to happen for the deck to operate properly. That will tell you if the deck can be just grounded, or if you have to tie into the ebrake or if you have to tie into ebrake and the brake light. As for the dash light being on, that means nothing to the dvd player, you will still have to connect to the ebrake (if the ebrake needs to be switched off/on...) wire.

thats exaclty what i said in my first post....most of the older ones you can just hook up to a ground wire..atleast all the ones i've hooked up..but alot of the newer models theres different things you have to do.

I take it you haven't installed one in a while John? The AVIC series almost all have a series of things you need to do to bypass them. With some you can cheat and put the deck into "Demo" mode by flipping a switch on the bottom of the deck, but a lot of the new ones with navigation also use the vehicle speed sensor wire to determine if the car is moving...good luck bypassing that AND having the navigation work...

Basically, let us know EXACTLY which model you are working with and we can offer advice on how to bypass it.

Also, is there any particular reason you are thinking Pioneer? They are nice, but overpriced if you buy them from a legit source...and most online places are not legit and offer no manufacturers warranty.

I guess the only AVIC series i've installed is the N1 and that was the first one out and didnt require anything so thats probably why..

but yeah i agree theres lots of better brands out there for your $$.

although i've never been a fan of pioneer at all

The common bypass for the N2 is to peal back the silver sticker on the bottom of the unit and either
                              A) Change the position of the dipswitch (if equiped w/ dipswitch)
                              -or-
                              B) Solder between the two points under the sticker (if not equiped with dipswitch)

Both options will void your warranty on the spot.
