The laws for motorcycles are different than the ones for automobiles.BTW, crotch rockets are just as loud as the harleys.
Why would exhaust noise ordinances be different?A piped rocket at 12k rpm is no where near as loud as a piped Harley at 5k rpm. Not even close.

The main difference is that high pitched noises cary where a Harley is just all out loud...
Exhast laws have their place, but ND is far off kilter on how and when they should be giving tickets...
Put exhaust on your car with a nice shiny fart can? why to set your car apart from everyone else, right? well it's gettting you noticed... by everyone, including cops. I have never installed aftermarket exhaust on any car I ever own. I take the Cat off the probe when I go to the race track, and I have left it off since late september. I haven't got a ticket yet... and I guarentee its louder than your civic, eric. pretty sure it has very little to do with how it sounds, but your style of driving and the look of your car(which I know is profiling... get used to it). if you dont want exhaust tickets, don't put exhaust on your stock civic.

Most people put exhaust on their cars to get away from the "stock" title. If you do it because you like how it shines...you're a ricer. Granted yes, I do just have a can on right now. But not for long, a can still provides better flow than stock. It's not just to set yourself apart from others.

I have an exhaust all 3 of my vehilces. The only time i have been pulled over for it was on broadway at 2am on labor day. And.... I was in my jeep.
Some of you know how loud my car is when i go WOT, if i can do that next to a Harley and not hear my open dump, that is just nuts.

the muffler may flow more/be less restrictive. but what good does it do to put that larger muffler on and then have to reduce it back to a smaller pipe to exit the muffler?
The exhaust can only flow as much as its smallest point. Behing big, is also not always the best thing. back pressure doess affect torque

U forgot the part where bigger piping isnt always better...it's exhaust velocity that's what matters not how big piping is, etc.
