general practitioners there get paid based on how well their patients are doing... they get a bonus if people in their district quit smoking, or lower their colesterol. <- sign me up.
best micheal moore stunt pulled evar...bringing US citizens who VOLUNTEERED at ground zero who cannot afford healthcare or are being denied it(WTF is that?) to cuba where they are given all the tests and proper diagnosis they are being neglected in the US for free.
I dont care if it is a michael moore film about socialized healthcare, an al gore film about global warming or a snoopy film about his secret love affair with marcy, its still interesting to me to hear uncensored opinions from people other then mr riley and dr phil.... no matter how "insane" everyone on here thinks they are.

The plural of "anecdote" is not "data".
Where's the movie with all the counterpoints... like the illegal immigrant in california, who, when doing a construction job, cut off one of his fingers. He (and the finger) were driven (by ambulance) to a local hospital, who couldn't do the job, and then he was airlifted to another hospital that could. his finger was re-attached and he has full use of his hand again.
The guy didn't even have the right to be here, much less health insurance, much less the ability to pay for it.
Where's the movie that talks about cases like that?
Where's the movie that talks about how some really-high up govt official in canada came to the US to get cancer surgery done? Where's the the movie about the average waiting time in the UK to get to see your basic doctor is now 6 weeks, and for surgery is 6 months or more?
Moore is a political pundit, and not an especially clever one. He wants you to buy what he's selling, and film is the medium he's using to push it.
People that want socilized medicine are just stupid. There's no other way to say it. What government job are you satisfied with? The post office? The department of licensing? The police? The IRS? What government agency at any level actually does a good job?
Now you want those some rocket scientists keeping you alive? Deciding if you need health care or not ? Deciding if you GET health care or not?
People support, sometimes grudgingly, thingsl ike public housing because paying a few bucks to help someone else have a warm place to stay doesn't affect their own housing. They can still live in a nice house that they pay for themselves.
Socialized medicine is different. Moore is asking us to help 10% of the population get better care by having 90% of us get shittier care. People aren't going to like that once they realize that's what's happened.

I havent seen it yet but i will sometime when i dont have to pay to support his nonsense. As full of shit as he is he does do a damn good job of making stupid people follow him, but its not to hard to lead the blind. Take a look at your paycheck now and tell me you like the money you dont recieve, imagine taking more out to pay for the guy on the corner of I94 and 45ST wanting beer money to go to the hospital also.

Well than get a job with benefits... Why should a couple people work and pay taxes so everyone else has free health care... Why don't we all just make america communist cuz that's basically what they're getting at, everythings is equal and everything is government ran, ask Russia how well that worked out...

The point isn't for a few to pay for everyone, the point is for everyone to pay for everyone. Who's to say you wouldn't use more than your fair share? Why should someone who can't find work be denied a doctor visit?
Last I checked, England, France, and Canada aren't communist.
I have a job with the opportunity to sign up with benefits. I still can't afford them.

Apparently it's wrong (and un-American, and communist/socialist) of me to think that helping people is a good thing. My bad.
The last time I went to a doctor, I waited in the waiting room for over an hour, finally got in, and got told "I don't know what's wrong with you. Try this medicine and see if it works. I can't guarantee anything though." The entire visit was less than 10 minutes, and I got charged just shy of $300. If I was in a serious accident, I can't imagine what the bill would be.

You can thank frivolous lawsuits for that bill. Doctors have to have insurance up the ass just to protect themselves in case some dumbshit doesn't like their care and decides to sue the Doc for millions.

Helping people is a great thing. Help all the people you can and you'll be much better for it. I help out as many people as I can as well.
Confusing helping people with a socialized health system is a huge mistake.
Doctors "practice" medicine, they often don't know what the problem is but they do their best to figure it out and help.

I'm not saying America's healthcare system is awesome. Nor am I saying that it's either our current scheme or communism. You (and others) seem to be impliying that I'm saying at least one of the two.
Receiving health care is not a right. For it to be a "right" that your government grants you, that means your government has to be willing to put a gun to the head of a doctor to MAKE that person provide it to you.
In the same sense, "food" is not a right and neither is a job.
Yes, you SHOULD have to pay to see a doctor because doctors are providing you a valuable service. Yes, your health has a cost.
Now, the question is... do you want to decide what that cost is, or do you want the government to decide for you?
It's fine to criticize some peoples health care in the US... criticism causes improvement.
It's not fine to demand universal or socialized medicine... because that demonstrates ignorance at best, or malicious stupidity at its worst.
