Yeah I'll be putting up with it next semester DelSlow...I currently have one class that the grading is based off class scores and I'm in the same boat as you (I think). It's a Csci class and it's full of nerds/geniuses so my 90something% grade isn't a very high score.

no, im just pissed off i have a 97% and have a B...

This is BS as far as I'm concerned, but a B is a B.

It goes both ways though. I had classes at NDSU where I'd get a 50% and still get a B. Some of my math classes (Calc 1 & 3, and I think Diff Eq) had a "grading rubric" where you got a 0-5 on each problem. This put a B at 60% and plenty of people still failed.

It's going to be a long road to your degree if you're going let one class stress you out. I spent my first 2.5 years worrying about my grades until I got my internship. My boss at my internship basically told me that the only thing I needed to be a successful engineer was get to my piece of paper; he was right.

What's your major? Depending on your major (chemistry, math, pharmacy, engineering, architecture, etc.), your overachieving classmates won't be going away anytime soon. They'll just be getting smarter because the ones who can't cut it will drop out or change majors. Just make fun of them and tell them that while they were studying you were doing the girl that they want to hook up with.

Try not to stress too much about school man; it's probably the main reason so many people don't make it to the end. Also, depending on your major, GPA doesn't matter nearly as much as the smarty pants classmates will lead you to believe. These are the same people that you will see in grad school because they're scared to enter the job market and grow up. These are the same people that will be sitting in a cube running calculations their whole career; to each their own I guess.

      Good luck,

^^^ Very true. I have had classes where you were graded by your peers grades. Not cool when you got 97% and still got a B. Very cool when you get a 70% and still have an A. GPA does not matter a whole lot. Not saying that it doesn't matter, it does. But you really need to worry about in school is whether you understand the material well enough to be able to teach it to your classmates or give a basic understanding to other people. Doing this will ensure that you will get through school with an adequate GPA and will help you tremendously when you have a job. I graduated in Spring of 2006 with a 3.5+ GPA, with a BS in Civil Engineering. I got a C in Calc 3, a C in Chem 2, I got a C in a couple of classes, but it doesn't really matter. I was teaching my classmates the material and they would teach me the parts I didn't understand. I would help them and they would end up getting a better grade then me. Didn't make sense, but I didn't care, I understood the material. I went to school to learn, not to get a really nice GPA. My GPA doesn't matter anymore. It is far better to have a working knowledge of the material then to have a book knowledge of the material.

That's bullshit when it's an easy class, but when it comes to a really hard class, it's nice.

When I took chemistry, I got in the upper 50% on all but one of the tests. The general class average was right around 50%. I ended up getting a high C when I should have failed.

yeah, its a fucking easy class, an easy class and a required class regardless of your major...

CSCI 116 was one of the few classes that didnt transfer to my major, but I still consider it one of my favorite classes ive taken, the fact it was an easy A helped.

Every class that Ive taken that has been curved the teacher said they would consider what % you earned and if you were in the 97% = B boat youd get pushed up to an A. It was a nice surprise in a class when I forgot about the curve at the end of the semester and my C turned into an A
