Gunna get the wife a remote starter for her truck this christmas and wondering whats the good deals out there now. I need one for my car too but don't have that much money to waste. I have used only compustar and Astrostart one's so far.

I would buy one and install it myself, but can't seem to find the good ones where I can buy them uninstalled, plus I ran out of patientce for installing them years ago, because the security systems can be a pain.

tintmasters sells a one way 300' range for 179 installed, but I would say you will spend atleast 300 on a one way system with a decent range.

Sorry to hijack your thread but I heard an ad on the radio that Tintmasters will install them in vehicles with manual transmissions. Is this true? I'm getting old, so maybe I was hearing things again....

I only ask because I went out there personally about a month ago and the guy behind the counter said they did not.

I believe it...and I'm sure that's why I've only been able to find one place in town (that i know of) that will do it. They want around $250 to install a 2-way (that I already own) in my manual.

you should sell yours and just buy one installed. usually you will pay just as much to install your own as the unit itself it the cheap part.

My prices start at $225 installed for a one-way unit. That price includes Remote Start, Keyless Entry and Electric Remote Trunk Release....and two remotes (key fobs). My top of the line 2 way w/ up to 6000' of range starts at $325 installed (again, Keyless, Remote Trunk if applicable...) Bypass modules can add to the price, but I only charge what I pay for them so usually that is less than $50 additional if you need one.

Is your autostart designed for use in a manual? If so, I'll do it for $175. If not, I won't do it at all.

That's a good question. It came out of an automatic 2005 F-150 that I turned in when the lease was up.

The other place I talked to that said they could do the install said that they may need to add a couple of components, but could do it for that $250.

So to answer your question, I'm assuming it'll work with a manual simply because I was told by an install shop that they would do it for me. But I'm the first to admit that I'm no expert, so I can't tell you for sure. Would having the model number help? It's out in my garage.

                            Thank you.

Don't you just need to tie the auto start into the e-brake on a manual car? Or is there actually a neutral safety switch also?

$315 for the Ultrastart 3280XR Pro

I had asked Jason at TM about the autostart for a manual a while back for my dad's truck. It costs $75 more for the manual ones, and I'm pretty sure that's installed. It's more because you need an extra set of wiring for it. So for the cheapest it'd be like $254 for a manual.
