Here's the long and short of the OT thread. (24 pages now)

    UPDATE 1:

Bum woke up, came in and asked to use the bathroom. I said sure..fast forward 15 minutes, and he comes out and says..."I was just reading the new Playboy issue"..and heads outside. Didn't say a word about the booze.

I am gonna give him a few minutes to freshen up for the day, then head out and talk to him.

    UPDATE 2:

I just walked out and spoke with him and asked him if he wants the beer...He said that was his payment for listening to music. So I thought it was pretty cool and offered a McDonalds lunch. He is gonna pack up and come inside and chat a bit. I will post results of convo after he heads out. So far I know he doesn't need a place to stay, and is walking from here (Fargo, ND) to Seattle....

    UPDATE 3:

He is coming in within the next 2-3 minutes. I will offer the place to stay and offer him $100 towards a bus ticket as far as it will get him. It didn't sound like he was desperate to get anywhere....kinda seemed like he was enjoying meeting people and traveling. I will report back after lunch and some convo. Guy just picked up all his trash and walked a long ways to a dumpster. There is nothing left behind from where his tent was. I will not stereotype a bum in my life again. His story to follow.

    UPDATE 4:

We ran over to McDonalds and got him some food and $20 in gift certs.

    UPDATE 5:

Well after a bit of conversation, he had some lunch and we gave him a ride to the interstate. His name was Michael and he enjoys meeting new people and traveling with truckers. He is strong into God and said God is creating these journey's for him. Very polite gentleman with kids in Portland, and a few pets. He hasn't been home for 7 months and looks forward to seeing his family and friends...and pets again. He is now gone, and I am glad we could make a difference for one day for this gentleman. I gave him 3 envelopes and stamps so he could send postcards/letters on his journey home when he gets bored. Cool guy!

    UPDATE 6:

He told the person who gave him a ride that he spent 4 hours dancing to the music last night... And to think, I was gonna turn off the music last night at closing to get 'rid' of him. I have matured over this experience, and hopefully some of you have too! Thanks Michael!

Way to be good guys about it. That's probably getting to be a pretty rare thing.

Repost the pics to imageshack or something?

That's awesome what you guys did. It's nice to see people going out of their way to help someone less fortunate.

If you have a pic of him you should post it. MY brother will be driving from here to portland in the next week. If he sees him, maybe he can give him a lift for the majority of his trip.

that is really cool, to help a person out like that. doesnt happen too often anymore. not to get off topic here, but i bought a disabled and homeless Vietnam vet a bus ticket to get him home to Michigan just before x-mas, kinda makes you feel worth while doing little things like that.

I still would like to know how a homeless person comes across almost 2 and a half cases of beer. Did he carry it around with him?

There is a liquor store just down the street from Tintmasters...he probably went over there and got it.

So he's trying to get to Seattle but he's buying beer and giving it away? Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a bus/train ticket? I'm missing something here.
