There were alot of homeless people in San Antonio....one of them asked me for some change So I gave him what I had in my pocket...about 80 or so cents. he was very grateful, it feels good to help somebody.

So he's trying to get to Seattle but he's buying beer and giving it away? Wouldn't it be easier to just buy a bus/train ticket? I'm missing something here.

Sounds like he's just traveling for fun and isn't in a huge hurry to get there. Who knows!

Sorry, not too educated on bums :icon_scratch: I guess I just don't understand why he would buy $45-50 worth of beer when he could have walked to the Select Inn and got a warm hotel room to sleep in with a tv and clock radio to listen to.

Well after a bit of conversation, he had some lunch and we gave him a ride to the interstate. His name was Michael and he enjoys meeting new people and traveling with truckers. He is strong into God and said God is creating these journey's for him. Very polite gentleman with kids in Portland, and a few pets. He hasn't been home for 7 months and looks forward to seeing his family and friends...and pets again. !

I feel sorry for his kids. He's out dancing in the snow 2000 miles away while they're probably among the ridiculous number of homeless people in Portland.

In that case, it's the best forum I've ever read. Very interesting and I can't wait to read the next page.
