Fake Alpine amps (and others)

woofersetc.com is only good for pictures of products and details about the products...
that site isnt even cheap...but i know people that have bought products from them and it has all been legit stuff....even some zapco stuff.

How sure are you that it is legit Zapco stuff? Call Zapco with one of the serial numbers some time...my money is on it not being legit.

Yeah, I couldn't even tell it wasn't a Zapco til I got on the phone w/ tech support and a couple of their "hidden" S/N's weren't where they were supposed to be (oops)

i guess i've never called about serial numbers, but it looks real, and performs just like a real zapco.
I guess its not mine so im not worried about it.

right...they get some non-knockoffs, but its not a risk I'd take.

I got some infinity kappa perfects a few years back that werent legit. I should have known by the deal I was getting that something was up. I ordered 4 of them, 2 for each car. 2 of them the voice coils were already blown, 1 of them the tinsel leads were not attached, 1 was good. I called the company who sold them to me every day for about 3 weeks and never heard anything back from them until they sent me a letter saying to call harmon kardon (infinity). I called them, knowing that they wouldn't do anything for me, and it turns out that they had gone so far as to replace the original serial numbers (which are supposed to be etched on the frame of the sub) with some fake ones. Anyway, they told me that these people somehow get ahold of warranty returns and resell them as new. To my surprise, I gave them the information about the company, they told me to send the subs to them (on my dime, oh well) and low and behold about a month later I got 4 brand new subs. Anyhow, watch out for prices that seem too good to be true, they are. I am a fan of refurbished products though.

Is that a distributor or a manufacturer? Sounds to me like they are trying to ride the USAmps name. Basically, if they are not authorized distributors of what they sell you run the chance of cheap knockoffs.

good find, friend bought a couple PG amps and a couple PG subs from them, and the quality was pretty good and the subs looked exactly like the ones at the local car audio shop, and we examined them pretty good because we thought they might be counterfits. but who knows the insides were prolly different, we didnt check that.
