Displacement

personally i think it's amazing what honda has done with small displacement engines, however a WS6 Firechicken gets my pants small... until I remember that GM lets retahded jimmy from the group home work with mrs. pullwieners third grade class to design all their interiors from left over chinese knock off fisher price toy plastic.

this islike trying to argue that 10 dollars is more than 15 dollars... No matter what you can do with your 10 dollars, the big v8 boy can do the same thing, and have 5 bucks to spare. But, there is nothing like going from 100hp to 400 hp in like 5 seconds like in GoldyHatchpsi's car...

i didn't want to participate in such a stupid thread, but Ferrari engines are actually on the small side. The F348 was a 3.4L V8, the 355 was a 3.5L V8, the 360 a 3.6 L V8, and the new F430 a ... wait for it... 4.3L V8.
I don't know of any US market V8s that are 4.3 liters or fewer.

That's what I was gonna bring up, they might have v8 and v12 engines, but they dont have much of a displacement....

A 4.3 V8 is still a helluva lot more displacement than a 1.6L 4cyl. Oh, and there is plenty of "American" market V8's with 4.3L or less.... Acura has a 4.3 Lexus has a 4.0, Lincoln LS has a 3.9 V8.

All other things being equal, larger displacement wins every time in a power contest....however, I'd still love to get my hands on one of these http://www.radicalsportscars.com/news_folder/dvd2005/sr8.php and yeah...it's street legal....and smallish displacement.

damn, the key to this thread is to simply just not post anything and let it die. Giving him attention will only make it worse.I see DelSlow has graced us with his presence.

I think I found it.

Pounds of Thrust > Cubic Inches

Acura has a 4.3 Lexus has a 4.0, Lincoln LS has a 3.9 V8.Acura and Lexus aren't US makes, they're US brands of foreign engineering. I was not familiar with the Lincoln 3.9 (or the Olds 4.0) so I stand corrected.
The point was that Ferrari engines make excellent and often superior power using much lower displacement than US engined counterparts, even with natural aspiration. That's how ferrari likes to do things and it's part of what makes a Ferrari drive and sound like a Ferrari instead of a Chevelle. (That and Ferrari V8s are flat-plane cranks unlike US V8s)
Anyway, the original contention in the thread is trollbait and everyone knows it. Stop playing along
