All of that, and you didn't even answer his question. Nice work.

new passat and jetta are both transverse mount 2.0T engines, and there are FMIC kits available for both from places like ecstuning.com

the 2.0T is a stout engine..200hp / 203 ft/lbs in stock form. Because of the direct injection, fueling upgrades are not as easy as swapping EFI injectors. The fuel pump is part of the head and is driven by the engine, and APR kits involve new fuel pumps.

If the mod was just a software update the FMIC is probably jewelry. If there's been a turbine change that's pretty substantial.

he didn't know if it was a jetta or a passat. both have can be had with the same engine and both with an FMIC.

The point was that serious modding on the 2.0 engine is non-trivial due to fueling issues, and its surprising to see one of these cars with an FMIC in fargo. It's either rice or someone is making some nice power.

I doubt it's the 2.0T, likely it's the older generation with the 1.8T in which case it would make a difference to have the front mount.

He very well could have meant a mark 4 body style jetta which i believe are more friendly to mods, but i don't really know VWs.

looked kind of like that like that. all the line things were removed. Had stock exhaust on it. It was deffinatly a FMIC, had pipes on both sides, and blue couplers on the pipes.

There is a black one in GF that has a FMIC but i believe it has red couplers.

the pictured car is an mkIV jetta, (i.e. last gen), and is probably a 1.8T.
