Fuck gas prices...

pics from CES this year of a tri-fuel vehicle from GM. Process goes something like this:
E85 motor runs to drive an electrical generator which then separates hydrogen out of a water reservoir....E85 motor also drives a compressor to compress the Hydrogen. Hydrogen then fuels a forced induction hydrogen powered engine. Byproduct of the burning hydrogen is water which is captured from the exhaust and filtered/separated and placed into the water reservoir where it is separated by the electric generator, etc, etc, etc...

im a little behind on the hydrogen fuel technology, but have they found an proven alternative to fossil fuels for extracting hydrogen? if theyre still using fossil fuel its the same game with a different name.

Otherwise more than likely it's being powered by a Coal/Gas power plant. You need a match to start the fire...once the process of electrolysis is refined or they find a better way to extract hydrogen you can bet that the power to extract it will probably be coming from cleaner fuel sources than fossil fuels. Fossil fuels will be necessary to help jump start the change though...

they should just bring back steam engines...

yes, i know that.
coal is cheap as dirt.

Yeah can't wait till premium is over 4 bucks a gallon. Fucking shit. I'm gonna get my car tuned to run on cocaine as that will be cheaper than gas soon.

Cost me $60 to fill up my STI yesterday...

kid i worked with just left to move up to northern ND where him and his friend are working with his friend's dad to make a tractor engine run on hydrogen then they are going to enter it into a tractor pull up there. they are working with a couple sources to try get access to a windmill to create hydrogen and working on ways to transport/store hydrogen the most efficiently.
you wouldn't be able to store just water up here without some type of heater running all the time to stop the water from freezing in the winter.
would you NEED to compress the hydrogen to store it, couldn't be stored as a gas without running a compressor? it would be explosive, but so is gas? sry if i'm being stupid, but someone please explain. n/m i found the answer. http://www.hydrogencarsnow.com/hydrogen-storage-tanks.htm
this is a neat website on the future of cars... http://www.hydrogencarsnow.com/index.htm

work truck is costing the company around 80 bucks per tank, and I'm on call way too much. I think when I filled up my bike last fall it was a dollar cheaper.. and I haven't had enough time to burn that sweet sweet $2.79 gas off yet. I should probably go fill up my tanks before the local stations hear the average is over 4 bucks and decide we all should pay that much too.
