if you ask me imports and domestics have both positives and negatives, everyone has their own style and taste. i was just showing that there was hybrids that they made, as far as the camaro goes myself in time will get a camaro around the 67' but not while i live up here when i can maybe use it 2 months out of the year, the new one i'd just use all year round. it will be alot more easier to own one when we move but i myself like different, and the new camaro is bringing some old and new to it so its different, different and change is good in my opinion.yes very true.
imports have the reliability factor...while being dogshit slow.
domestics are made to have power, but not much to support it when things start to break.
the new camaro will be nice to a point, but i just dont get why people want to bring back a legend with the high possibility that it will fail.
like putting bush back in office or making the charger a four door....

there should be. i dont get why there they would still think all the same junk will pass as todays latest and greatest.

So I guess when the GT-R comes back, it is going to be a stupid move by Nissan... god I hate remakes of legendary cars.was the gtr ever taken out of production??? (idk) i thought it was replaced by the GT-R ztune (still a skyline) untill the recent reproduction of it. and personally i dont like the new gtr's. i think the past models will still out live the current remake.
but with the research are the remakes built to the demands of what people are looking for??

sorry some people have present style. those cars had stopped being manufactured for a reason, and they should stay that way. they went down in the books as being very nice respectable vehicles. and the comebacks result in junk. They were stopped from being manufactured because of the emissions standards set forth in the early 70's (ever notice that nearly ALL muscle car models died at the same time?)
they are unecomonical to say the least. PLUS they provide a cheap way for a brutha to put a bad name on ANOTHER car. i dont like seeing 22's on a classic. do you?
I don't like seeing 22's on anything, but that isn't the point...I don't like fake tits either, but some people don't mind them.
so do they really give people a reason to like them? and have they come out with a new vehicle at all?? hmmmm...
Let's see:
EFI, ABS, Air bags, ECU, better crash rating, etc....
Nope, nothing has changed since 1974.

arent those standard on every vehicle?
im pretty sure all my cars have had that. (besides abs)
what im trying to get at if why put a bad name on the original??
why not make something new and innovative. look outside the box. its not that hard to come up with new ideas. so instead of taking the easy way out why not DO SOMETHING NEW????

Point being that none of the muscle cars had those in their first incarnation.
How is bringing back the namesake putting a bad name on the original? Especially if it is conceptually how the car would have been made back then, if they had the technology that they have today?

To me it looks like they improved on the original. And why not? The car still has a huge following and it only makes sense to appease the fanbase.
FWIW, here is the Skyline history

So what?

so why not do as ford and improve on what matters NOW, rather than take 2 steps back and take a legend in its own and put a bad name on it.
How is bringing back a car that they discontinued production on bringing back a legend with a bad name?no_slow_clap wrote:
you as a marketer and producer, would do better innovating and exploring into new and better things. and would fail as trying bring something back from the dead.
The new Challenger is newer and better than the old ones last I heard. They are bringing back a 2 door sports car that has been redesigned.

Uneconomical? How so?well....why hasent chevy, dodge/chrystler looked into making a hybrid car. sure chevy has the hybrid suburban....but even so it still sucks down gas.
i dont think a 50 yr old man wants to buy a suburban just for himself, only to get the hybrid benefit. and if hes in a midlife crisis where hes looking for something sporty then why blow all that money, and then some on a gas guzzling renovated camaro?? it just doesnt make sence when its a lose-lose situation.
yes, personal style is important, but when personal style conflicts with what left in your wallet to enjoy what you want...it makes you think.
Nobody is forcing you to purchase a vehicle. Obviously Chevy and Chrysler doesn't think that a hybrid vehicle will make them enough money to justify the costs.
How do you know what a 50 year old man would buy? Different people have different desires/wants. It all goes back to what I said earlier, personal preference plays a huge part. That 50 year old guy could have had a Camaro when he was a kid and wants another one.

ok so when our 50, single, and you want a new car...you gunna spend the money on a suburaban for the gas milage???
did you SEE what the new challenger looked like.....cough junk cough (IMO)
WoW whoooo yippeeee it can do a burnout. what cant??
i get what your saying. people have different styles. but what i dont get is instead creating new and better things, why bring back a classic? arent they classics for a reason??

and what i meant by a bad name was....do you remember yellow gto kid?? i think he made the new gto look like ass. not only that but gave the owners the "im a bad ass redneck sombitch" sterotype.
GM making it easily affordable for a brutha to make a nice car look like pooskee

Lets see, with a new GTO you have a warranty, all the latest creature comforts, comfort, etc. Not to mention the price of the 60s and 70s Pontiacs has absolutely skyrocketed in the last few years.no_slow_clap;223230 wrote:

Now you are talking about people giving themselves a reputation which has nothing to do with a company deciding to bring back a car. He gave himself that reputation but 90% of the GTOs I see out there are driven by people who aren't like that clown.no_slow_clap;223230 wrote:

Tufte, I know it is hard for you to wrap your pin head around this concept, but not everybody has a big fucking hard on for European or Japanese cars. Refer to the post I made much earlier about personal preference and how not everybody buys a car because it is the best performance per dollar.
-
I would do the GT-R or the 09 Zr1 looks like a good option (Supercharged with 638hp) or for about the same price you could buy a ZO6 and send it to lingenfelter for the 1000hp package....I think any of the new import or domestic high hp cars would be fun at least you could drive them and beat on them and they would not break as often as much as lets say my old dsm, they would ride good have all the nice features inside and so on and so on....i guess its all personal preferance my needs for a cool fast car is so much different than a couple of years ago.Ive been driving a CTS-V around and thats pretty fun at least i can get my family and all our crap in it to go to the lake.

And why would you take shots at someone just for posting the results of a magazine shootout, he didn't put any personal opinion or and comments in about that.

i'm sure i'm going to be in the minority here, but i must say that i'm not looking forward to the skyline being made available here. in fact, given the chance, i wouldn't even buy one. having spoken to a friend from college that is from a well-to-do japanese family (in japan), i'm going to trust his description of the skyline handling poorly. the combination of an inline 6 and 4wd makes it not incredibly friendly to turns. there was more to it, but that was the major damaging combination of features

Look at how many Corvettes (or insert other sports car) there are that are just driven for fun. Different people have different wants/desires and you must look at all of them rather than assuming that people think like yourself.
