I'm not a big batman fan, and in fact, I got pissed because I knew everyone would be gushing over heath ledger because he killed himself. I figured people would make it out to be a bigger deal than it was.

I was dead wrong. His performance was amazing, simple as that. Any awards he gets are going to be due to his acting, not him killing himself.

if i remember right it was an accidental overdose, not sure you would want people to find you dead and naked maybe some would but i dont think he would have wanted it that way. but ya he did a great job on the movie.

Damn it! You guys got to see it in the theater, I'm broke as fuck and had to settle for a cam video with the last three minutes cut off. So if anybody could fill me in as to whether something important happened in the last few minutes I'd be very grateful.

Sterling Archer: Oh my god! You killed a hooker!
                Cyril Figgis: Call girl!
Sterling Archer: No Cyril! When they're dead they're just hookers!

Just go see it in the theater and watch the last three minutes. Question: who plays the joker in the next one?

Hmmm ok. I saw the movie. It was pretty good. To me not freaking AMAZING like everyone is saying.

But as for the whole ledger thing; ya he did a good job but i don't think it was a breakthrough amazing kick ass performance. Good little article here (http://blogcritics.org/archives/2008/07/20/212246.php)
"Ledger's performance is very good. He was probably even better than Jack Nicholson from Tim Burton's 1989 iteration of Batman, but let's be serious. Can you give an actor an Oscar for playing a role that at this point in pop culture is just an amalgamation of all the performances that have preceded it? While I will try not to disparage the memory of a very good actor, if you start to hear his name and the word Oscar in the same sentence, I fear that this might just be an overreaction to the sadness related to his young death."

So overall: it was all just hype.

Absolutely not, great performances all around, fantastic script, and Ledger's joker while he may have used the others before him as inspiration his performance was very very good. Its a great movie despite being an action flick, the subtlety of Batman's actions in the movie gets back to the darkness of the comic book character, he will do the things cops will not because he is not one. That is what the character was from the beginning. The old TV show kind of wrecked that, the first two movies tried to show it but missed the mark, despite being the best batman movies until now. And the next three were total failures even though they had massive star power. Calling that performance by Heath hype is just asinine, Oscar worthy? I don't know but he nailed what the joker is supposed to be, and made me want to see what else he was capable of. He had become so much more than a pretty face, and his acting got better with each performance, culminating in this version of the joker.

I personally don't listen to critics, there overpaid to find things that are wrong with a movie, I like to use my own judgment to decide whether I liked a movie or not. I for one thought it was a great movie and Heath did an outstanding job relaying the Jokers dark humor and could give two shits attitude and I think it's safe to say, that even thought the movie was titled "The Dark Knight", the Joker was the real main character in this film . It's just too bad that Heath won't be around for a sequel.
