Why police are worthless
-
Well, for one, they're Police not Locksmiths and two, stop locking your keys in your damn car.
To assume the Police are useless simply because they didn't unlock your car because, by no fault but your own, you locked your keys in it is just, for lack of a better word, ignorant.I wish my old man was alive right now. He served on a police force for 27 years and I know for a fact he'd have some choice words for you. Growing up as a police kid you learn to have much more respect for what they do than the average person because you see things from there side and all the bullshit that comes with the job. They have much more things to worry about than unlocking some dumb ass's car door because they locked there keys in it, BUT, if they do have the time they will do what they can or at least direct you to someone who can help. So once again I say, to call them useless because they didn't unlock your car is just pure stupidity on your part, there are more important things on there plate to worry about.

oh damn, I overreacted on that one....I guess I was a little stressed/pissed that I didnt really see what I typed...sorry, police are NOT useless, however.....it is a bit of inconvenince to those who cant afford a locksmith....60 bucks last time I checked....

JN210: quit locking your keys in your vehicles, or carry a spare key. you haven't said yet if you got into the car or not.. hopefully you have, by now.
most pontiacs open up pretty easy with the right tools.. but most cops either don't carry the tools with them or don't know how to open stuff anymore.. there are other things to train for.
a lot of the area departments have rules (because of liability and other issues) about opening cars. I hear west fargo won't open anything made after 1990. Fargo technically hasn't been opening cars for people (policy) for a few years. Moorhead will still do it, sometimes, as will west fargo, sometimes. It's going to depend on who you get ahold of at the station and how sorry they feel for you. It sucks that you got into a situation you expected them to help with and couldn't get help.. but there's a lot of companies and individuals in town other than the cops that actually make it their business.. when it's not really the cops' responsibility or priority.
The easiest way to get into your pontiac AND your Z is still with a key. get some made. =D

I got into my car, My dad had to come by and give me the spare for the pontiac so I used that, and I have spares for both my cars, I just dont carry them on me those are left at home. I do agree that it isnt the police's responsibility to undo dumb mistakes that I have done, and they would have sent someone to help me if I was in their district....which was right across the street may I add...so, idk, I spose if they really wanted to help they could have, but ya know they are way too busy busting those "racers".....has there been a huge bust recently? or anything exciting for them to actually do? if so it would explain as to why I have not seen so many of them around.

i can honestly say i have a bit of a problem with locking my keys in my car so yes i have had my share of run ins with cops coming to unlock my car.. in my experiences, WFPD has in fact unlocked my car door but they made me sign a waiver of consent before the fact just in case something was to break. so yea they do unlock doors but it probably didnt hurt that i'm a girl...

Yeah, the #1 reason they won't do it is for liability purposes as they are afraid that they might accidentally pull some wires loose or damage your door in some other way. They don't want to get stuck paying for your mistake....and heaven forbid they accidentally pull off a side impact airbag wire and either the airbag goes off when they do it, OR it doesn't go off after you get into an accident and you get killed. From their standpoint, it's just not worth the potential headache....waiver or not.

One time I called the cops and was like "hey, I am seriously horny, and i know you have chick cops, can you send someone pretty over?"
Well they did, but she arrested me. Not like fantasy role playing arrested, but for real.
I definitely didn't feel "served" or "protected".

Ever lock your keys in your car and rely on the Fargo/Moorhead PD to help you out?, Well, I did once with my Z and they came and helped me and I was greatful for their help...but today, I was driving my POS pontiac and accidently locked the keys in and called just about EVERY police department around and ended up at the first place I called, I was IN west fargo and that was who they said unlocked cars, and they told me some bullshit about them not doing that for years when only a couple weeks ago they helped me in the same area.....To serve and protect....what a bunch of lies.....to those of you who are police monitering this forum....Get your shit straight, either unlock cars and be helpful....or continue being useless....I no longer have faith in the FPD,unless they can do something to change my mind./rant
I got an idea, get a spare set of keys?
To serve and protect doesnt include holding your hand to unlock your doors once a month.:icon_porc: -
I think you and this guy would get along well.

This thread is total crap. I cant believe you think the police are just there to serve you when your forgetfull ass locks your keys in the car. That makes you an IGNORANT FUCK!! Ever heard of a locksmith? God forbid you actually pay someone for a service. How about taking accountability for your actions instead of ranting about something that you have no right to.

When I did my ride along last spring we stopped at JC Chumleys in Moorhead and unlocked some girls car. My girlfriend has locked her keys in her car several times and Moorhead PD has always showed up to unlock it for her, free of charge. This thread is, like almost everyone has said, one of the dumbest things I've ever read...
