Go through the procedure to set timing. What motor is it?

Also, does it rev all the way out smoothly? Belt could be off a cog or two...I want to say they have a tolerance of 3 or 4 so shouldnt be more than that, but never seen one personally with a belt off the marks.

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

I wouldnt be satisfied with 3 or 4 cogs off to begin with. regardless of tollerances and such.

Oh yeah definitely. I was just saying for the interference aspect of the motor.

Should have put this in the first post. If the car was running fine before, then take it back and have them fix their mistake.

No it doesnt rev all the way out smoothly. And im getting REALLY sick of using my e-brake since the damn thing is going out. Yea i will more than likely take it back and have them fix it. I will just tell them i had another mechanic look at it and that it has to be off a few. I just hate to have to call in and more than likely have to wait a few days before they can get to it again.

            I apprieciate it guys.

Its the non turbo 3.0 V6. I changed the three spark plugs that i could get to, the other ones are to hard to get to and the ones i pulled were platinums and they were good yet so thats not my problem. It has to be timing. Hell if it ran with a loose timing belt then it damn well should run with it "fixed". I forgot to mention i had them put in a new tensioner aswell which is the whole reason why it was loose in the first place.

take it back and tell them to finish their half-assed attempt at fixing your car. it sounds exactly like a timing issue.. no reason to believe it's not, because it was running before they were working on your extremely-timing-related parts. How long have you been driving it like this? You might want to have them flatbed it in to the shop.. because it's not running right and it hasn't been since they touched it.

did you ground out the adjustment connector when you checked the timing?

Those tensioners can be picky. I would check the pressure on that and the round idler looking pulley too. No easy task in that kind of car though. On a related note I know the computers in them are terrible, they blow capacitors all the time. If you can find another computer from someone it wouldnt hurt swapping that out and seeing what that does. I hope you find the problem soon!

Are you talking about the ECU? Im on the 3000 GT forums and im pretty sure i can get one for cheap. But i dont even have the Chilton book on it yet so i dont really know where shit's at.

for the bad ecu part.. i have a stock one for a tt you could try but

                                      a. you cant keep it
                                      b. usually when they go bad you experience exactly what you are experiencing... minus the clicking under the dash
                                      c. if your friend knew what he was doing your timing is still off so make them hunt down the cause of the problem... sad part is, you could just have bad or tangled spark plugs wires.

also look and see which direction the plug for your cam sensor is facing...

Getcher green hat, we are goin fishin.

I would if i had the car in my possesion. I know where my cams are but i dont know where the hell the sensor is. Also it could be that my wires arent in order. And i cant find any diagram that tells me my firing order.
