· advertisement ·FARGO – A police investigation into a fatal motorcycle accident here in September has determined that the 20-year-old motorcyclist could have been driving up to double the posted speed limit.
Authorities were unable to determine Cody Wayne Lahr’s maximum possible speed, but used witness accounts to estimate he it was driving between 40 to 70 mph, according to a news release.
Investigators have determined he was northbound on 25th St. S in the left lane “traveling at a minimum speed of 44.15 mph.,” according to a news release.
Evidence at the scene also confirms early reports that Lahr had been riding a wheelie just before the Sept. 16 crash, the release said.
The investigation also showed that Sophie M. Kenney, the 15-year-old driver of the sport utility vehicle involved the crash, “most likely” had an obstructed view of the motorcycle, the release said.
Authorities determined Kenney made a complete stop at 30½ Ave. S, then proceeded to turn left across 25th St. S to go south. A northbound vehicle in the right lane that was preparing to turn right onto 30½ Ave. S most likely obstructed her view of the motorcycle, which would have been overtaking the northbound traffic, the release said.
Police have forwarded the investigation onto state and city prosecutors’ for review and deferred comment to those offices

40-70...lol ....thats quite the estimate.

Im impressed that they were able to determine that he was going at least 44.15 mph, but couldn't narrow it down to more than somewhere between 40-70....
-
is the 44.5 mph his average speed or his speed upon impact?
-
Im pretty sure we bleed the last thread dry nothing left....either that or people are still in shock over the election. meh

Its nothing new, we all know he was speeding and riding a wheelie. Now we know the 15 year old girl didn't see the bike because of another car, "probably." Fact remains if he had not been riding a wheelie and going too fast he would have lived to ride another day.

He's king squid, should have worn a helmet. /thread
