This project began life as a 1978 kz650. A friend of mine bought it cheap from a guy who had it sitting in a barn. Some parts were used off of it, and then it was once againg placed in a barn to remain for the rest of its miserable life. I saw this and took action. I drew up an idea of what i wanted it to end up like and went from there.

Here is it in its original state. Mmmm aint it pretty

This bike is very fast and alot of fun. With the work done it should make somewhere in the ballpark of 120hp. Never dynoed buy these are common mods for these bikes and others have had these results. It is a blast to ride and it is a good feeling to have something that is one of a kind that you built with your own hands. I thought about just buying a sportbike before the build, but decided against it because anyone can have a sportbike and i wanted something completely out of the ordinary. Its also a good feeling being able to keep up with the new stuff on a classic.

Oh ya, the goodies: 81 750 bottom end,810cc high comp. forged wiseco pistons, ported gpz head, gpz cams, head milled down to further bump compression, 34mm carbs with bigger jets. Rev limiter is set at 10,500rpm but she has a tad more life in her after that.

that is the first thing most people think of, except the seating position is almost identical to how it was stock keeping it very rideable

just curious...why didn't you finish it off with a cafe tailsection or a flat tracker tail section? it would flow well with the bike I think...just a thought.

My buddy has a KZ650 as well, his is not as nice as this, but it's something he is looking to do. How do you hang on to that thing? It looks like you would slide right off!

Actually this is not the bike that was bought from delfast. That bike got chopped up and made into a hardtail frame and sold as a rolling chassis and the rest of it was parted out.

This bike came from a friend of ours here in SD.

This bike as since changed hands about 2 months ago, but another friend of ours is buying it back this comming weekend.
