So refrees suck
-
it wasnt entirely mertens fault. he was having a good game and was being used as he should be: running the ball more and boot legs to let routes develop in front of him rather than to his sides. what really sucked were the missed field goals.

The pass plays SHOULD be open...no one respects the pass game...you SHOULD be able to pass against 8 and 9 man fronts, especially in a bootleg(or at a D1 school?)...once again he can't pass when a team actually decides to cover it...

you would think jackson would have gotten a shot ..with nick playing so bad?Your preaching to the choir here...the coaching staff must see something in practice that they don't like? When they mentioned a QB controversy, they basically skipped right over Jackson saying Mohler "gives them a different look" on offense(which I don't get?)...It's almost starting to look like a coaching staff problem. Play calling is questionable, at best.
I personally feel that Bohl always wanting to "establish the run" was a big error. What he really should have been trying to do was establish the pass, so the run game was open...even the greatest RBs will struggle against stacked fronts and an over aggressive defense...

NDSU Football = hype
sad, but a lot of truth. -
I actually have ref'd before both basketball and Football. There were some really REALLY bad, career ending, calls yesterday. That entire officiating staff will probably never work in Fargo again. The personal foul on Ramon Humber when he laid the wood to their QB to push him out of bounds and save the touchdown was the first. The QB didn't know 44 was coming and made no move to get out of bounds until Ramon hit him. The pass interference call in the 4th quarter was the biggest, defender was playing the ball the whole way, and barring that didn't touch the receiver until the ball was there, what the fuck!? Once the momentum shifted, fabricated momentum btw thanks to the officials, and Mertens had to win the game for us, that's when he makes mistakes. He tries things he really shouldn't, up until that pick he was playing quite well. Save for a couple in the first quarter his pass were good, where they needed to be when they needed to be there. He didn't overthrow a single screen pass like he has done a lot of in the past. I am literally sick after watching those penalties again, it was complete and utter bullshit, and then to lose by one!!!

#1. A misspelling, are you that dense?
#2. I am a Bison fan, you obviously are not.
#3. How do you get armchair QB out of what I'm pissed about. I'm not arguing that the bison should have done this or done that. The refs blew some major calls and it cost us the game.
PS Brian you are right I won't argue that. This is not a 2008 NDSU Bison football thread, I wanted to vent about the fucking retarded referees. If you didn't see the game you don't know what I am talking about and I would understand you attitude, it must look a little absurd from the other side. "Capitlj is butthurt the Bison lost," but that's not it at all. Trust me its not the calls were asinine, I'll try to find some vids but those who were there or saw it will back me up.

To be honest, that was a terrible staff. Especially the drive where the Bison had 2 15 yard penalties against them. The late hit out of bounds, the guys last step was IN bounds. Total bullshit.
The pass interference was total bull shit, the guy dived behind him, and swung his arm around the front of his body and made a great play. Before you know it, its a 45 yard swing in a matter of a few seconds.

Well I'm not offering any advice nor am I criticizing the calls, and actions, of the coaches and or players. Me no armchair quarterback.

There were some really bad calls that totally affected the game. I hope someone gets the calls up on YouTube.
Nick Mertens is the worst 4th quarter QB I've ever seen. NDSU lost 5 games this year and all 5 games ended with Mertens throwing a pick with under five minutes left in the game and NDSU holding a chance to come back. 5 losses, 5 game ending interceptions. Bad calls or not, NDSU would be in the playoffs if it wasn't for Mertens 13 interceptions in 5 games. Next year is not looking good right now with him back at QB and all the seniors departing.
