So is it still just making a clicking noise or is it doing nothing?

Well we have an update... My roommate took his bike home this weekend and I went out to check and make sure he locked the garage as he left, and while I'm out there I always need to try and start my bike. At first it just clicked like it had before and I was just upset and clicked it over a few more times and then it started to try and turn over again... it was weird. So I sat there and tried turning it over quite a few times with no luck, but it was turning over. So I went out to the bars and hit some friends house's and got home hours later and went to make sure it was still trying to turn over and this time when I tried to turn it over it started right up. Weird.

So then today I went out this morning and it started up, I put the side panels and seat back on and took it for a cruise. Drove it all around Fargo, put about 20 miles on it, and then I stopped at a friend's house for a couple then came home. On my way home about 4 blocks from my apartment it stuttered and stalled on me and at first I could get it to turn over and start as long as the choke was on but once I gave it any throttle it would die. Luckily some guys on bikes were across the street at a gas station and they came over and we tried to get it started and push starting it but no luck. They did give me a push for the few blocks to my apt. though.

So that's where it's at now. When you try to start it it with the choke on it will sputter and almost start but it won't. It seems like it just needs a good very good tune but I haven't worked with bikes much, mostly cars.

Yea sounds like it could use a tune up.. check the fuel filter and fuel pump and see how dirty they are.

Is the bike always kept inside?

If I'm not riding it it's either in my garage or it might sit in a parking spot for a couple hours if I ride it home and don't put it in the garage right away.

I want to get the battery tested to see if it's good cause it seems like it has a mind of it's own. It will be pretty dead and barely able to turn over but if you let it sit for half a day it will start right up half the time.

Well I went into Umotors today and got the battery tested, it tested bad, like 5% performance or something. He put it on a battery charger for about 3 1/2 hours and I came back to get it and brought it home and hooked it up and I was able to get the bike running. It doesn't seem to start with the choke on, only way to get it started is crank it over and give it a lot of gas, so I think that means it's getting flooded??

Well when it starts it has some white smoke coming out of the exhaust, not really a cloud of smoke it's just puffing out the tip. Once the bike is warmed up it goes away and doesn't do it anymore. Also while it was warming up it seemed like there was smoke coming off the engine somewhere? I could see it in the headlight beam and then looked around some and you can see it coming out the sides fairings a little bit, this again seemed to go away after it warmed up.

Right away when it starts it seems to run good and the throttle is responsive but then when it gets warm it starts getting sluggish and eventually it idles out and dies. I can start it back up and give it throttle to get up the RPMs but once I stop reving at all it dies.

So this is where I'm at now, I want to check fuel filter, air filter, and spark plugs next and see what that brings to the table. I would like to try getting it running good w/o going to a dealer that will fist me for my wallet. Still gotta go to NDSU this fall.

there is a little screw on the left of the bike underneath the frame in front of your foot. It has a black head. Turn it to the right 1/4 or a 1/2 a turn if needed.

See if that stops it from idling out. Turning it to the right will make your idle higher. If it does nothing remember how much you turned it and just turn it back.

If your talking about the idle adjustment screw I've tried changing that some and it doesn't seem to help at all. It does change the idle when it's running but when it's just dying then it doesn't help.

Ok so I tore it down some yesterday and air filter looks good, pulled the spark plugs and they were pretty black, so I want to adjust it a little bit and lean it out some before I put it back together. There is those 3 adjustment screws on the side of the carburetors, are those the air/fuel mixture screws that I can turn out to make it a little more lean? or do I need to bring it in and get it synced to do it correctly?

                  Any input is nice...

well I didn't adjust any screws and put it back together and it hasn't given me any problems since. What I think it was was when we took the gas tank off the breather lines under it looked like they had been kinked, well when we put it back together we straightened those out and it seems to be good now.... fingers crossed/knock on wood
