Shitty throws? Most of those "shitty" throws are exactly what separates an NFL QB from all others. Today he showed the ability to put the ball where he needed. Not every throw will be on the numbers, and the game doesn't require that. In the 4th quarter, he got a little happy feet in the pocket, but they failed to change the scheme for Abraham being able to pin his ears back and rush the passer. The let him be singled up with RYAN COOK. Am I the only one that seems something wrong with that situation? Jackson was getting hit, and was still able to make BIG plays with his feet in most of those situations. I don't care if Jackson was perfect in this game or not, but I will say that if Gus played that game, he would have been eaten alive with his inability to move in or outside the pocket. Bottomline, Jackson was the least of our worries in that game. If anything, he was one of the major bright spots in a game we'd rather forget.
By the way, those catches Shiancoe made are catches that should be made by NFL Tight Ends.

so he made 3 good passes and ran the ball good 3 times? but fumbled twice, missed 1 snap, and threw 20 other horrible passes...hmmm
There was a reason he was benched after the second game, and today he showed those skills again.

Ha! I can't believe that Tomorrow I'll be rooting for the PACKERS!
A team I woudl never hope to see win, I am hoping will win tomorrow.
Weird, huh?

I'm confused...did you watch the game? He fumbled once, which ended up being a very odd play, the other was NOT his fault, but by stats it is his fumble. It is up to the back in that situation to secure the ball. It was exactly where it was supposed to be, AP was just concentrating on hitting the hole and never got a feel for the ball. He threw more than 3 "good passes", and didn't throw 20 "horrible passes", considering the fact he didn't even throw 20 incompletions, half of which were him being smart and throwing the ball away.
To compare him to the first 2 weeks, is outrageous. What else do you want the guy to do for us? He more than managed the game, not to mention him having a QB rating of 98.5 for this game. If there is any single person that may have cost us the game today, it was AP. He has been less than reliable for ball security lately, and I think now we should start to be concerned. He has been warned specifically that his fumble could prevent us from reaching the playoffs, much like it did today. If Jackson can have games like today in the playoffs, and we don't shoot ourselves in the foot, we should be a pretty tough team. If we weren't a good team, we wouldn't have been within 7 points after the game we played...
Like I said before, He didn't lose the game for us.

To defend TJack, his son had a pacemaker put in the when he was starting earllier this year, I doubt his mind was clearly focussed on football. Now we hear his sons doing fine, and you can clearly see how much more comfortable he is in the pocket.
I wish he'd use Berrian more. Rice can't be found with a serach light, but he wasn't really tearing it up with Frerotte either.

I'm certainly not sold on TJack but you must be out of your mind.
What was with the crowd yesterday? I've never haerd the dome so quiet for a big game. It was pathetic.

Did i watch? Yes, he fumbled twice, the miss snap was his fault also, i didnt realize you were doing the statistics for the vikings:icon_scratch:, so the threw what maybe 5 good passes and the rest werent very good. You obviously didnt play much football, a good pass comes to you, you dont jump, stretch, dive for IT.
But your right, Tjack is obviously the best QB in the league, he gets scared and throws 2 yard passes to a guy who's covered by 3 guys and gets hit as soon as he catches the ball.
hmm lets check tjacks record....now lets see ferrottes record? who has more wins?

Didn't Birk say it was his fault? Here is the story:
THE WEIRD SHOTGUN SNAP
There was another play that didn't result in a turnover but was a big error. With 6:51 left in the third quarter, Jackson was lined up in a shotgun formation on third and 9 at the Minnesota 33. Birk snapped the ball to him, but it went flying by Jackson's left ear.
Jackson recovered at the Minnesota 11, and the Vikings were forced to punt. The Falcons got the ball back at their 49, and they were able to go down and score after Ryan was upended, fumbled and the Falcons recovered the ball in the end zone for a 24-7 lead with 2:38 left in the third quarter.
"He (Jackson) wasn't ready for it," Birk said of the shotgun snap.
Said Childress: "They (the Falcons) were lined up in a zero blitz, and he (Birk) was trying to re-identify the (middle linebacker), and Tarvaris was looking in the back end to see what he was going to get versus the blitz pressure. Matt hiked it back, and Tarvaris didn't get his eyes back on the center."
Jackson said he and Birk miscommunicated on the play.
"We got to do a better job of getting on the same page," Jackson said. "He was ready. I wasn't ready."
That was the fourth consecutive offensive series for the Vikings in which they fumbled.

That doesn't say anything about who was responsible. Didn't Birk say it was his fault during the game right after the play?Lol...are you serious.
"He (Jackson) wasn't ready for it," Birk said of the shotgun snap.
or
"We got to do a better job of getting on the same page," Jackson said. "He was ready. I wasn't ready."
I wonder who to blame...

It's a 2 sided sword on this one.Do you take the guy who can make plays with his legs, or the slinger who'll throw the ball out there for a high risk, high reward type of result.
Gus is a statue, and would've gotten killed cause Atlanta brought heat all day. TJack almost outrushed Peterson, if Peterson didnt wash his hands in oil before everytime he went out there, we'd of won by 2 TD's. The whole missed snap was just bad luck. Tjack was looking at the pressure Atlanta was bringing, mustve lifted his leg and Birk snapped it, it was just shit luck.
Tjacks sideline passes look much better then back in weeks 1 and 2. He's actually hitting those short swing passes rather than totally over throwing them.
Again, this is coming from a guy who wanted him benched, but Gus looked old, tired and worn out the last few games. He was getting beat by the Lions until TJack revived them.
Plus Gus was throwing more INT's than TD's, but you can't look at it and say..this guy won 8-3 by sheer luck..he won us some games...but he also put us in bad positions to lose games. TJack hasn't really done that and didnt do that yesterday..it was all Peterson yesterday.

a good pass comes to you, you dont jump, stretch, dive for IT.I'm sorry, this is completely situationally based, especially in the NFL. You have to move the ball around to where it may not be the best spot for a catch, but the best spot NOT to cause an INT, swat, etc. I'm not saying all of his throws were perfect, but come on Jon, you know he had a good game. Show me 1 QB that throws perfect throws all the time. Doesn't exist. Bottomline, the throws were accurate enough to be where the defense wasn't. After all, isn't that the goal?
RidinRails;252939 wrote:
But your right, Tjack is obviously the best QB in the league,Yeah, that's exactly what I've said? I'm not saying he's Tom Brady or Peyton Manning, or anything close to that. We do not NEED a QB like them. Of course it would be great, but we are blessed with having a potential hall of fame RB(along with another good back).

He's still a young QB, and his poise has increased DRAMATICALLY. The only thing that will make him better at stepping IN to the hits will be experience. His pocket presence will get a lot better, especially if he gets to play in the playoffs.

Like i said before, theres a reason he was benched after the second game. The first two games were not good. Frerotte hasn't deserved to start for awhile(we just were unaware of how Jackson would look, and Chili trying to be a tough ass and not go back on his statement). We have been winning in spite of Frerotte, not BECAUSE of him. Remember, Jackson was the one that saved our asses against that pathetic team that is the Lions. Let me guess, "oh it was just the Lions, what does that prove?". Well I don't know, that Jackson could do what Frerotte could no longer? And now you ride the "hot hand" as he has planned better than Frerotte all year.
And just for the record, I was all for sitting Jackson, maybe not as early as was done, but it WAS the right move.
