Knock problems

when i drive down the highway in 5th gear at about 3500 rpms my afc says im knocking really bad. I tried adjusting the afc a little richer and that did nothing, so i tried leaning it out and that did nothing. Ive heard that it could be a lot of different things causing it, like timing, too rich or too lean, spark plug gap, bad plug wires, etc. etc. :mad:

What wire did you tap into @ the ECU? How much knock are you seeing?

your afc says you're knocking? is that your only means of checking this out? because i've read that the afc is not a good source of knock info. in fact, in my car, it is WAY off, so i ignore it

the most knock ive seen is 207 in 3rd gear at 5500 rpm. I was going to do a knock sensor led or something, but ive heard theres no point.

Yeah, i wouldn't be paying any attention to that because whoever hooked it up obviously didn't do it right. The most possible know that can be record is 43.

Get a datalogger to find out , I can let you use mine for a hour or so... Did you get a new knock sensor? if not check if its good I wouldnt bother with the s-afc just use the data logger.. what injectors are you using? How much boost, whats your timing set at? which plugs? Tuning a dsm isnt for everyone. If you want us to tune it on the wideband for the street give me a call (701)282-2902

i don't know nick... i'm pretty sure i remember seeing triple digits on my afc

I had the afc monitering the knock and had it paused so it will read the most knock and hold it on the screen. I have 550cc injectors, ten pounds of boost, I didnt time it troy did, and im not sure what plugs i have.

P.S. Im trying not to blow it up thats why im asking this.
