Component is the highest quality you can get for most televisions. I would definitely go with it.

it separates the colors into 3 different feeds, instead of just one. Its like the big overhead projectors you see that spit out 3 colors, red green and blue (I think). I have it coming from my DVD player into my TV. I have never noticed a problem, or a real difference, but I have never used regular hook up with this tv either, so I dont know if there is

i just checked out how much component cable would cost for my xbox and its 60 bucks. thats a lot compared to s-video. Anways i think im going component since i can probably use it for another tv if i decide to upgrade later on.

I just remember screwing around at wal-mart and hooking it up and being quite pleased with the picture quality over coaxial.
