Transmission Problems

I have a 2000 Ford explorer with an automatic transmission... I can put it in first and second gear and it drives fine but when i put it in drive it doesn't move and squeels.. also does it when i put it in reverse. If you know what the problem could be please let me know. Thanks

You need a transmission. If not a used one from the salvage yard, a rebuilt one from a reputable shop.

They are a dime a dozen at salvage yards. Dont even bother.

Ya, if you rebuild it. Otherwise, I'll lay odds its a paperweight. Please verify this with a reputable transmission shop.

It sounds like it is more of a valve body/solenoid issue rather than the whole transmission. Check out www.explorerforum.com/forums and their transmission section.
