I don't know if you have ever been on HMT, but if you haven't then I'll give you a quick run down.

Next to 0 moderation, some of the heaviest noob basing on the net, random racism, random porn in damn near every thread. HMT is pretty much the white trash, porn loving, racist, ozarks of the internet. But, if you can put up with the BS, there is TONS of excellent tech.

Xenocron (the past owner) did not want to own the site anymore so he sold it (which is ok). Unfortunately he sold it to someone who has never been on HMT before, just a random guy that buys car forums and tries to turn a profit with them.

He instantly changed over to vbulliten, put on a word filter, blocked access to the porn forum (open for anyone over 50 posts), blocked access to the OG forum (open to all OG's and special invites). Everyone got pissed and started throwing a fit. If anyone said anything bad about him, bypassed the word filter, posted random porn, etc... he banned them.

A bunch of the mods/sponsors laid it out to him in the mod forum (in a mature way) that "hey, this is HMT is and if you are going to come up in here and try to change it then all of the members that make this community what it is will leave, and this forum will drop to 0 value in a matter of days" To which he pretty much said, "I don't give a fuck if you are OG/mod/sponsor/etc... this is my forum and if you don't like it you are banned."

Shit has gone so bad over the last day and a half it sounds like xenocron is trying to buy it back from him. Jeff, the original owner/creator of the site, has called the new owner personally and pretty much told him that he had just wasted a large ammount of money, and asked him how much he would be willing to sell it for.

The new owner, who has realized that buying this was a huge mistake, has pretty much said that he will not be selling the site and if shit keeps up the way that it is he'll just shut the place down, delete all the backups, and call it a loss just to piss off the 20,000+ members.

What he doesn't know is that Jeff (site creator) has backups up until a year ago, Xenocron has backups up until a few months ago, and various mods have backups up until a few months ago.
