judging by some of the maps I looked at this afternoon - if it makes it over 40' and the levees don't hold - Grand Forks 97 will look like a vacation spot.

Has anyone looked at Moorhead's maps? They are just basic FEMA 100/500yr floodplain maps. Useless IMO. How do you make sense of the damn floodplains compared to the crests?

At first I did it for fun, then I realized I made the investment and had to do it!

I am not familiar with Moorhead. The dikes in Fargo are good to about 40' with sandbagging in certain areas. They can only go so high and bag the critical areas. Once it is breached Fargo will see levels like in 1897. The Dike West is at 41.3 . I believe it is the tallest earthen dike in Fargo. Moorhead level is at 40'.

The house I am renting does not even have a sump pump.

I wonder if I should call the owner and ask if he plans on having the drains and other things plugged in the basement.

My dad and I where looking at maps on the clay county website. You could raise and lower the water level and look at where the water would be.

Good call on the Clay County site. The city of Moorheads site was useless lol. These maps work, but man are they primitive.

HAHAHA I just looked at that, pretty funny that they show Moorhead all the way up to 44' but in Fargo it stops at 40'.

When people began to settle here Moorhead was suppose to be the big town because of the higher ground.

Yeah, my mother is screwed at 42ft according to the map lol, she lives in like the geographic center of Moorhead...not good lol.

Bill, what cause the other to happen? The differences in state government(ie, taxes)? I know Moorhead was kinda known as a "Tavern town" back in the day.

My house in Moorhead is safe even up to 44 ft. However at 42 ft I will be sandbagging.

If you have any questions and/or concerns regarding plugging your sewer, battery backup's on your sump pumps, or even the installation of a new sump pump, give us a call. We have about 25 sump pumps in our shop and plan on pickup about about 25-30 more today.

We have installed several sump's over this past week, and have several more in stock to continue installing!
